I thought the analysis of the Battle of Hoth was the geekiest Star Wars thing I'd ever seen (not an easy task!) until I saw the diorama.

The J.J. Abrams thing really bums me out, mainly because I also love Trek and his Trek puts me to sleep. The only people claiming to like that film are people who don't actually like Star Trek to begin with, and that's something to think about.

His other films are okay, but then I think about all the great directors that should be doing this instead of him.

As much as I enjoyed the (original) movies and as much they played a part in my formative years, the franchise should disappear. Go away for a good ten years, possibly longer. I have no interest in the upcoming movies. Abrams treatment of Star Trek was watchable. But that was only after getting past the obnoxious 360 degree camera movement and the excessive lens flare.

Anyway, I found this while looking through some folders. Took it back when I still cared.

Unfortunately this type of news does not even phase me anymore. Sigh, I guess the time I have been a fan is gradually being displaced by the amount of time I have been a jaded fan. Five words come to mind: Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.

Brace yourselves for some heavy disappointment Star Wars fans: Jason Statham does not want to be involved in the movie in any respect.

He prefers "true stories and action films."

This is a good idea. I'm sure that Disney is considering it after buying Lucasfilm for 4 billion dollars.

Wow, that is some terrible news. LucasArts was a massive pioneer in the gaming and graphics world, and their early titles are benchmarks I still think back on. I think a part of this success came from, or at least lead to, what made Lucasfilm and their effects department equally well-respected. I can't say as I understand this decision, but I guess it is Disney, so they have their own priorities and monetising vision.

Myeah, I rather agree with this article though: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/04/lucasarts-disney

"The LucasArts that died today is not the one you loved, and it was never going to be again."

Fair point made Oli. I have not been playing games for a long time and am well-known to be a fossil of the past, so it's probably more likely. And I guess in the end, I do feel (admittedly not knowing anything about gaming or development) that probably the best work in innovation and creativity are done by smaller companies and startups, which are then licensed to bigger studios. Which is more what it was in the beginning. So very well then then, RIP LucasArts, your best times were amazing ones.

I need to find a torrent of Full Throttle, that game was great for its time. And how about day of the tentacle? Ugh...so good. Lucasarts, you are forever in my heart.

Okay, I don't know where that came from, but those match ups are just ridiculous. Jango Fett over Bossk? You have got to be kidding me. And that is just the beginning! Any population census that gives Lando a 7% rating, whereas Wedge gets 18%....pfffft. Good day sir.

yea, I didn't like the Windu Yoda result. At least Windu won his battle with the Emperor, almost. But it does make sense that Yoda would take the whole thing- he died in his bed 800+ years old.

That's a brilliant one. Thought I had posted it once, but I can never keep track of goings on and my ramblings. So timely though. "This is the kind of film Disney should be making." Touché. Oh, and of course, bad 3D movie << good 2D movie, thank you Mr. Siskel.
