Is that after Bing messed up their Twitter campaign to increase their hit rates all for the massive sum of $100k. whoever thought that was good idea needs their brain examined. On the flip side - here's how to do it right. CEO of Uniqlo has given $12m out of his own pocket and the firm is providing $8.6m worth clothing to shelters: http://www.blackbookmag.com/article/uni ... apan/25198

 Re: E A R T H * Q U A K E
how does one go about donating to the Japan Red Cross? Sounds like they have yet to ask for assistance from the U.S. Red Cross. Am i wrong to think that donating to our Red Cross doesn't really do much until Japan Red Cross asks for assistance?... if you notice (as Kirkland said, Microsoft) as well as other large corporations are making contributions to Japan Red Cross

If you go to the Red Cross site to donate, you can earmark your donation for Japan.

I didn't want to get into this (and still don't) b/c I don't want to discourage acts of kindness. But I recall after 9/11 Red Cross changed their donation rules to state that funds could not be EARMARKED for specific events b/c it made some people (9/11 victims) millionaires and left the Red Cross broke when it came to other areas of need.

^^^ Thanks for posting. This is the link of the page I found: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/donate.aspx?EventID=66175&LangPref=en-CA&Referrer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.redcross.ca%2farticle.asp%3fid%3d38380%26tid%3d001#donatehereIt appears to be earmarked, but if not the Canadian Red Cross is involved in evacuations, so I think it's still worth it.

You can always donate through the Japan Society. http://www.japansociety.org/newsThat's the route I took, seeing as I'm always dubious of Red Cross, I know loads of people who work in the charity sector and have never heard a good thing about them.

I'll definitely pick one of these up to help out. Can we do a mass order from the board? I can't read Japanese unfortunately.

I've put in my order with the aid of the google translator. It was cumbersome, but I went through with the Paypal payment and all that. Well worth it, as I believe all the moneys will go to those in need in Japan.

If someone can put together a group order, that would be rad.

Speaking of this karmic retribution bull shit.
The outspoken governor of Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara, told reporters Monday that the disaster was "punishment from heaven" because Japanese have become greedy.

Now, now Alice, no need for the finger pointing. Some of those reactors were built by Toshiba, no? And in any case, if this fallout scenario doesn't work out, Toshiba/Westinghouse are working on a couple of these beauties for the Texas Gulf coast: http://www.gregpalast.com/no-bs-info-on ... yer-funds/I mean, what's the worst that can happen?

Let's build a Nuclear Plant in a place where three fault lines meet!" "Lol, okay!" And you know why the cooling systems failed? Because the quake cut off the electricity! Like, OMG! WE NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!!! Brb; pustules.
