"Soap the stamps" a UK 80's hardcore documentary was shown on Channel 4 last week. You can catch it on 4OD if you missed it. The Stupids, Heresy, Napalm Death etc. Brought back a lot of great memories.

Have you ever been to a fest that you liked all the bands? If yes then damn your lucky.

Just saw this topic. still into DIY punk/hc, still go to shows, still put out records from friends bands and bands that I like, still go out of my way to find a good raw lo-fi hc punk, still do record cover art for friends.
It was great to ran into an old friend at nycc last year waiting for pushead toys!

I still enjoy a hardcore show now and again. Just saw Violent Reaction and The Flex(both from the UK) this past week and they ruled. I can't get to every show, but it's great that there are still some solid Hardcore bands that keep things fresh.

Geez Sodadude, u so hardcore ! Ringworm and the like can exist all they want and you can love them if you wish but they are not "old school hardcore". Not everything needs to be old-school all the time...i like to reserve that term for the first wave of american hardcore bands ...

I would be happy to further nerd-out on the chronological definitions of phases in "Hardcore" and would suggest that old school hardcore best refers to bands active between something like 1978-79 and The end of 1984.

Saw them both in DC, and will again in Philly and NYC in a few weeks. Glad to see their tour going so well, I've been down with both bands since their demos. I released the US version of The Flex demo on my label.

That is cool....that fest in DC looked great a few weeks back with Infest/GI etc...Looking forward to more from those bands and hope their tour goes well.

A band I wish I knew about back in the days is Asocial, with their How Could Hardcore Be Any Worse demo.
I think these Swedes were the first to record something with blast beat from start to finish. They were calling that the one-beat !

The Flex and VR are so great.
I will wholeheartedly support actual straight edge skinheads forever. It's nice to see them waving that flag.
Too many Fred Perry wearing posers at shows now a days. Love that Flex demo Jeff. Those guys are in so many great bands.

The Cro-Mags saga continues. It's like our jerry springer show. I want to believe Parris is a total straight shooter
and not an ego maniac too but I'll put money on that not being the case. The only thing I can say with 100% certainty is
that the Cro-Mags line up now, and the one since 2006 or so, is the best I've ever seen. I did not see them in 86 as I was 7 years olf
I have a few friends who saw them in their "prime" and say now is the best they've ever seen them.
Not something you hear often.

Also edgemen check out edgeland podcast if you haven't heard it. You might like it. It will be boring for the rest of you.

I agree with your Mags take...I dind't seem them in their "Prime" as they never came out here when I was old enough to go to shows...when they did it was Harley Mags and I was so confused.

The line up now rips and while the between song banter borders on Art Bell Coast to Coast at times, JJ is an awesome front man still and brings it.

Seriously, FLEX and VR, Crucified Edgemen...so good

Rob, Edgeland podcast should talk about how you guys brought a hairstyle to the US hardcore scene that will never go away.
