I'm not quite sure what my views on this being released on film are... I think my previous statement about Underdog still stands, anytime you add humourous animals to a film, it instantly becomes shit.
The "cover" of You May be Right on Chipmunk Punk is actually good (within the context of the rest of the album...), though I spent ages playing this at 45 without realising. And You May Be Right is wayy better at 45, cuz it's faster.

Okay, maybe I'm old, but you guys are pointing to this "punk" 80's crap as if it's classic "good" Chipmunks, but when this came out, I was already seeing it as a clear sign that the Chipmunks that I remembered had gone to shit. 20 years from now, some 30-something guy will see a preview for the new "Chipmunks Virtual Reality Experience with full sensory immersion technology" and he'll post on some board about how the CGI shit eating Chipmunks that he remembers from his childhood have been ruined. It's funny how every generation thinks that the version of a cartoon/character/whatever that they grew up with was the best one. Or at least the last good one before it went downhill.
That being said, I saw this preview when I saw the Simpsons and I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Pretty tasteless for a children's movie and it just looks like a garbage film.
I just reread what I wrote above and it makes me sound really, really old. Seriously, I'm not all THAT old and then you also have to factor in how incredibly immature I am.

Yep, again it's not the real Chipmunks. I'm probably older and more immature than you. When "Chipmunk Punk" came out, nobody I knew who was into Punk wanted anything to do with it. It just seemed too cheesy and bubblegum, plus the covers weren't actually punk songs. Tom Petty, please. In retrospect, it's amusing as a novelty. Even the way they're drawn on the cover art is poor and the voices on the tracks, being different people, don't sound right. Anyway, I see nothing wrong with people younger than us having good memories of the album, but I know what you mean. I read the post about a "new Ministry album" and just felt like ... dang, I thought the Ministry act had gone completely lame by 1989. It's all about perspective I guess.

Al has nice cowboy hats. OK OK I liked last year's Revolting Cocks album a lot.

I have to admit that you were right on about the cover art. I never looked at it that way, but I was cracking up when I read your post about it. Cracking up again right now.
