LOL! I dont think Frank meant it as a tribute and if he did it was a tribute/homage to the Character....not another artists EASILY IDENTIFIABLE STYLE.......

Garg CHANGED the sculpt and colors from the OG 70's Zag which I believe was unlicensed to begin with.

What is it so hard to understand whats wrong about stepping on someones style /art when it comes to this Dunnny?

Maybe some dont understand the difference or know Pus's signature style......and I dont think he uses the Dunnny "platform" either.

IMO its still a blatant rip on PUs's style and subject matter

Well I wasn't trying to stir anything, just curious. FK did specifically say it was a "tribute" when the ethical question was in the air. I wonder how Gargamel's sculptor would feel about that? Maybe FK cleared it with them, I wouldn't know.

I see where you're coming from. I don't care overall on the subject, but I get it.

It's not whether it's done well or not, or even (to me) if it's THIS toy, it's someone taking someone elses distinct style and saying "hey look what I did" when all they did was rip them off. An homage or tribute would be a bit more original.

It's like music and cover songs. What's the point of doing it EXACTLY the same as the original? It's uninspired and boring, I hate covers like that. What's the point?!?!

XO,IMO Franks Zag looks more like the Huko Zag which looks just like the 70's OG...which was a Boot/Unlicensed(I think?)
That said...to me it looks like Franks take on the character.
Im not seeing the Gargamel issue and I doubt it was a tribute to Gargamel...but to the Character in general.

I guess in the big picture Gargamel has a lot to do with most of us even knowing the Zag sculpt in any form....Franks done Gargamel Zags so I guess the guys at Gargamel are cool with Frank

I just dont think it should be taken too light when someone rips a style so damn close...if Pus did a dunnny like this and someone did a tribute by exactly copying it and said hey here is my replica/copy...its not PUS but a tribute....I would find it less of an issue...but I doubt Id think it was cool.....OK enough of my opinion about this DUMMY!!!
