A lot of other places have made their version but Chef's is the best (people have seen me snub other versions)...but yes, there is something about Valrhona Chocolate that makes it wonderful.

Great idea; and it sounds as if you guys have the creativity thing down. Some of those flavors sound amazing. I really love the idea of specialty stores for specific foods - I think that concept is poised for a big comeback as people get sick of megabox grocery stores.

Yes, that is my feeling, too. And as the larger corporations and mega stores have to cut back on labor and quality in a desperate race to be the price leader in everything, the small businessman's competitive advantage of quality and personal attention will shift more customers towards the specialty shops. In fact, the building where our shop is opening has a pizzeria, beauty salon, diner, bar, and laundromat, and is the only comercially zoned building smack dab in the middle of a national historic neighborhood. And it will be nice to use my bike for my work commute.

Cupcakes are very popular now like fondue was in the 70's, except cupcakes are actually good.

Maybe you can sell them to the Navy?
I'll ask for them at the Commissary. I can provide them information on them once you are up and running!!

I might be in your neck of the woods this weekend. What time is the pre-store sample tasting? Good luck with the store.

That's cool man, I've noticed, too, a slight cupcake AND doughnut shop rise. But if there's nothing where you are, than booyah! My wife and I have always wanted to open a business but neither of us have the mind of the business side of things.
As for the name, I'd call it "CUPCAKEOCALYPSE" but I'm guessing that's not the image you're going for?

Mainly fruit pies (cherry, rhubarb, blackberry), but also peanut butter, and one my mom would make that was basically a pie crust with apple slices arranged radiating from the center with a custard similar to flan poured in to fill the empty spaces. I would like to open a bar that serves pie...

 Re: Cupcake Nook...
Thanks again guys for the well wishes! The project really has become a labor of love for us already. And if anyone is thinking about starting a business, I strongly recommend doing it. I have started a couple of businesses since college and even though the first one failed, my last one is still up and running and bringing in a profit. I think a lot of people worry about the complexities of starting a business and stop before even starting. When I was starting my first small business my mom told me, "now you know you're going to have to get letter head and everything!"

 Re: Cupcake Nook...
I'm afraid of debt - buying a house a year and a half ago is the first time I've had any. If I didn't have to take a loan to start a business I'd be more likely to give it a try.

This sounds so cool. Wishing you all the best of luck. All the different flavors is making my mouth water. Here's a combo I had recently that may sound weird but totally knocked it out of the park. A maple muffin with maple frosting and crumbled bacon on top. Seriously, it's addictive.

Best of luck stealth, what a cool venture! Haupia cupcake sounds delicious and Jack and Coke is brilliant. I used Valrhona cocoa to make some chocolate cakes recently. Nothing else like it, amazing.

Thanks!!! I really hope the locals will be willing to try some flavors they might not be too familiar with. Sappy Saps wrote: Where will this be in relation to Destin?
Destin is in the northwest panhandle of Florida, and Tampa/St. Pete is in the central Florida. Too far a drive I think, but flights into and out of Tampa International from all over the country are always reasonable. Which reminds me my visit to the 'ville is long over due!

Dude... the POG cupcakes sound ridiculously good.
Awesome attitude about starting a business in a recession as well. Hey, before I started Velocitron I thought about putting some money into Forex but then opted to put it towards something I'm actually passionate about instead. If you've got the passion drive, you can't go wrong!
