Too much of whatever you are putting on it probably. Too much lotion, or whatever afterward seems to increase the scab copy. Gotta let it dry out a little. Not to the point where it starts cracking... but it's a fine line.... Could just be your skin though too. Some people I know have no problems. Others scab a lot.

I take the ink crazy well, Then during the healing process all goes a rye. Then once I change skins its all sunshine. So in the end all is well, but I generally don't show anyone my tattoo's until 3 weeks after I get it. Which is hard since I'm giddy as a school girl whenever I get new work.

this is a great thread also everyone I know who got a SXE tat are all still doing it, 16 years for me and i will be getting one at some point, unfortunately i have to wait and go to Austin in july (i know ages away) to get my arms finished as my mate moved there a few months ago and didnt have time to do em before he left, but pretty much got all my tats done off him this is my back which got done ages ago now and while it was getting done, plus i have a big back so it is actually a pretty hefty tat

Steve Byrne? That's who did my Bride of Frankenstein piece that isn't showing up and I can't get a good picture of at the moment. Great guy, fantastic tattooer.

I never got a traditional sXe tattoo though I thought about it, I guess the outsider in me didn't want to do something that stereotypical, so I have a tattoo of a square on the inside of my wrist.

Re: Tattoo Thread! [Post um, if you got um!]
This should be insane. Last Rights Tattoo in NYC is having a walk-in day on Halloween, no appointment necessary (which includes all of their artists including Paul Booth): Quote: Last Rites Tattoo Theatre presents its first ever Creep-In Day on Halloween! Saturday, October 31st, 12pm-12am Last Rites Tattoo Theatre, 511 W. 33rd Street, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10001. Find more information at http://www.DarkImages.com. (New York, NY) Last Rites Tattoo Theatre is celebrating the Halloween season by showing a return of support to all Last Rites friends, family and fans. With their first ever Creep-In Day, dedicated fans and collectors receive a rare opportunity to be tattooed spontaneously without an appointment at the infamous Last Rites Tattoo Theatre… and on Halloween to boot! Along with Paul Booth himself, the Last Rites family of masterful artists will take in the haunting energy of Halloween, Last Rites style, and produce stunning tattoo art on a first-come-first-serve basis! Paul will even be venturing out from his private lair and tattooing in the family crypt making the day an awesome “meet&greet” opportunity for Fans and Clients alike! In addition to this overdose of high energy freehand tattooing from 12 to 12, the day includes visual stimuli such as live painting sessions featuring Esao Andrews, Vincent Castiglia, Fred Harper, Dan Quintana, David Stoupakis, and Genevive Zacconi. ArtFusion Experiment collaborative painting performances by notable Tattoo Artists such as Paul Acker, Goethe, Juan Selgado, Jesse Smith, and more! An ArtFusion canvas will be open for the public to paint as well! The Film Chapel will be rolling Paul’s personal Horror movie picks continuously day and night. And of course, costumes are welcome and encouraged! And last but not least, the day will end at 11:59pm followed by a traditional Last Rites “Kool-Aid” Toast to bring in the Witching Hour. Please read on for special details… Paul Booth and Crew will be following normal protocol used for conventions and touring. This means one-sitting freehand style work with an approx. 3 hour time limit on a piece. If you are looking to start a multiple sitting project such as a sleeve or backpiece, then this is not a day for such. Our best advice to you is to give our accomplished artists your theme and trust them with the artistic freedom to run with it for you. 3 hours can get a good sized piece done so don’t let the time issue concern you. We do this to be fair to everyone that desires Last Rites Art. We also suggest getting here earlier than opening time if you are really serious about getting work. The doors will open at 12 noon and anyone behaving overly aggressive, intoxicated or under the influence of drugs will not be tolerated. This event will be filmed for an upcoming Last Rites DVD so costumes are encouraged but not mandatory! * Meet and Greet the artists and fellow clients all day and night * Crazy Performers will be unearthing themselves throughout the day for everyone’s twisted amusement. * Food, Drink and visual stimuli all day long… No Cover! Costumes Welcome! “We want to show our fans our true appreciation for their support, by allowing them the opportunity to avoid the waiting list… and get tattooed convention style. I have been spending quite a bit of time here at home focusing on my larger projects and I find myself occasionally missing the road. Now I can sort of go on tour without leaving home and get a good dose of that convention energy I have come to know so well. I have always liked the idea of bringing our fans together to meet each other as they have always shown a strong like-mindedness. This is why I want to make it a meet & greet day as well.” ~ Paul Booth ~ CONTACT: Jennifer 1-212-529-0666 godless666@darkimages.com

What am I doing wrong? you're probably not washing it hard enough... you need scrub the fuck out of them after you remove the bandage. scrub with a mild unscented anti bacterial soap. keep it clean and dry, and scrub and clean as often as you can.

I don't know if "hard" is the right adjective... lol but thorough washings are definetely needed to get all the plasma and goo off.

Re: Tattoo Thread! [Post um, if you got um!]
Everyone heals tattoos differently, and if you've found a way that works for you then that's great. How I heal mine, withing an hour or two of getting tattooed I wash it with warm(not hot, ouch!) water using an antibacterial soap(dial works best for me, but a walgeeens or cvs brand works as well). I usually go for 2 to 3 days(depending on size of the tattoo) without putting anything on it, just washing it with the soap 2 to 3 times a day(a lot of people put lotion on their tattoo almost immediately but I don't like the thought of putting lotion on an open wound, if I was to fall and scrape a knee or elbow I wouldn't run home and put lotion on it so I pretty much treat it like I would that). After it starts to tighten up(not scab) I start putting lotion on it 3 or 4 times a day, you don't have to soak it in lotion just a small amount to cover it works(If you start to break out around the tattoo you're probably using too much). Within a few days of that your tattoo should start peeling, GENTLY wipe it with your fingers using soap and water(in the shower works best), if you notice parts that don't easily come off DO NOT pick at it, it will most likely come of withing the next few times you wash. Most tattoos take about two weeks to heal all the way thru, some longer. A little scabbing in some spots is not a big deal. Do not pick at your tattoo and keep your dirty little fingers off of it, if you're one to take super long showers cut them down until it heals, the less that goes on with your tattoo the better. Also remember that with tattoos you almost always get what you pay for, a cheap tattoo doesn't always mean a good tattoo. Like I said this is what works for me, hope this helps.

3/4 deep into a body suit and I don't put shit on it. I have allergic reactions to all of the OTC gels/creams. You name it, I have broken out with it. Tried all the soaps, all the best lotions etc. Like Godspeed says, wash it with the anti bacterial. A hot shower takes the heat out and feels great. Let a hot shower blast you, right on the tattoo even, has something to do with the body being in 'shock'. I would post photos but no flicking flicker.

Re: Tattoo Thread! [Post um, if you got um!]
So it seems the reason I don't heal great is because I only wash it when I shower [once a day]. Thanks for the info guy's. I feel sorta dirty now.

Nice tattoos, I especially like the Kamen Rider one. I have a tattoo myself but I'm afraid it has not been repainted in a long time so I would really be ashamed of posting it here.
