If people like this stuff they can quite easilly find Skullbrain.org without being pointed at a specific toy to jump all over. I'd prefer to see toy of the week on this board.

In my honest opinion, when someone tries to push JP vinyl in the KR forum... it comes off as you being snotty & saying everyone else's toys are inferior

let the Fresh Meat [expletive deleted] collectors enjoy their [expletive deleted] and give KR a little respect...

exactly. Japanese toys are great but they're pretty much a totally different genre than what most people on KR collect. There is some crossover of course but if I collected GI Joes or Blyth dolls or something I wouldn't expect people on KR to love them. If you want to show them pictures thats great and Im glad that people have shown me the cool toys in those threads, but dont be surprised and offended when some people dont like 'em.

I think we are all better off if peops find this site thru a friend or by chance. I kinda feel like there are alot of new people showing up here as is with out dragging more people over from KR ! If you think the JP Kaiju is hard to get now whats the point to this. We have a hard enough time obtaining pieces we want with out having to fight off the hordes . Do you want to try and force mass production of the products we all love ? I think that could be a possibility unless we keep things on the down low. We came to do our own thing in the first place, why blow it now.

BIG PS, I could'nt agree more. TOY of the WEEK should be here ! Not over at KR.

You can post stuff over there, but I don't think it will make much difference. These japanese designs are more challenging than other "art toys" and it take some time to come around to them.

I mean brian started super7 magazine to do just this and it still is taking people years to come around. I started this site just to post pictures and info on this stuff somewhere other than the KR board. It has done some good exposure for this stuff, and it is growing every day. Slow and steady wins the race!

i found this place without the benefit of KR. i say let others do the same.

There was a story I read about Joe Strummer. He and the reporter were going to hit the town. The reporter pointed out a bunch of kids hanging around the in the hotel lobby watching them but they were too shy to come over. The reporter asked if he wanted to invite them along and Strummer said "Fuck em. If they don't have the guts to do if for themselves then they're out of luck."

I like the people here and all most all that have come over from KR are great. But that place is a hellhole and openly inviting them en masse is a bad idea. The limited product is already hard enough to get with out trend-jumpers.

a lot of us had to drag people over here a few months ago and this board is a better place for it.

I am not talking about promoting SkullBrain.org, just posting pictures of cool toys.

agreed

alot of people are making a fuss over this either way, but when i started doing JP toy o' the day on KR, it was just for fun and to get some variety going.
there were some nice reactions and idiotic reactions but it basically didn't change anything. (wasn't meant to)
i stopped doing it cuz it got boring. lol
anyway, point being i don't think it would make much of a difference in terms of people who post here or causing some sort of drastic change in sales or board membership.

i say, go for it.
a majority of the people on KR dont know that cool ass shit like these toys exist. all they know is Dunnie/Munnie/labbit, etc.
also everyone over there isnt bad. for the most part, a majority of the people i have talked to and met have been super cool and nice people.
there are a few assfucks over there that spoil it for a lot of people though.

if people are interested in what you post a picture of, i am sure they can find their way here.

Those ass'es are my only reservation ! I don't even check out the KR site that often, but almost everytime I do, I run across the fucking DRAMA QUEENS handing out the old BS. We can all live better lives without that BS.

i love Toy O' the day!!! bring it back to KR...

I still believe that once you dig thru all the shit there is still some goodness over there. I also tend to think that you all have a pretty good grasp on the JP vinyl market so new flippers won't really stand a chance.

I like the idea of spreading cool Japanese toys to the masses, but why narrow-cast it to Kid Robot? I think you could reach a much broader audience if you made it a regular feature in these places:

i think the fact that this is even a debate is weird.

people should just do what they want.
knewnan if you really want to post toy of the day, just do it.

i'm not sure people would even think about it twice if you had started doing it without asking. hell, not like cesar would notice! LOL

This will mean, aside from all the questions, we will have to go through the whole "I need it" "I want it" "Show me where to get it" and "Give it to me NOW" shit quickly followed by the "I'm looking to sell...".

That pain isn't worth the sharing.
