Friday the 13th was pretty terrible, I don't even think I made it through that film.
I spit on your grave is the most perplexing remake, why? Why? would anyone remake that film?

The current wave of remakes on the whole, is pretty terrible. But there's no sign of them slowing down.

Does anyone know why Marvel hated Ang Lee's Hulk and remade that? I have never understood what was so bad about that film that they basically disowned it.

Edit: Upon further consideration, it seems as though Marvel have a problem with the Hulk character in general as they have unceremoniously sacked Ed Norton from the upcoming Avengers film as obviously they aren't happy with him either. Though the rumours are it was because he wanted more money, but nonetheless.

with the hulk it was about money - they couldn't turn the franchise into something bankable, either time. if you check out the gross data they never made back what they put into it. the ang lee version was despised for being a cgi/action nightmare and the recent remake didn't do that much better even with set ups for sequels. it's hard to identify with a superhero that is a big green cartoon half the time, especially when neither actor had the personality to pull off bruce banner. not sure what happened with the avengers/norton falling out but it's a shame to lose the consistency.

also, excuse to post

I really liked Norton Hulk. I thought he was good and the movie was a 3.5 outa 5 (aka not shabby.)

This is such a hard question! The obvious stand, the Burton remakes, Godzilla US version, King Kong, but it's a tough call to say the WORST!

I think Depp is over rated. He's either great or horrible. That doesn't equate to "great actor" to me. That equates to OK actor. If he misses half the damned time it sinks his over all talent IMO. I think Walken would've been an awesome Wonka but hey, it didn't happen, so whatever.

Worst remake ever? I dunno. Fantastic 4, can't touch the original

I don't even count the endless horror remakes.

A remake of "monster squad" is in the works...
No good...

Very disappointing :?

The 1997 version of The Shining was one of the worst remakes in my opinion. Stephen King may have not liked the original adaptation, but it is one of my favorite films. Maybe '97 followed the novel more accurately? Who knows. I have to admit that I've never read the novel. But either way, the remake sucked.

Am I alone when I say we need a crazy "Final Fight" movie with lots of spinning pile drivers? They can spit it like "Taken" but with an ex wrestler suplexing his way to his daughter instead.

Not out yet, but I'm not looking forward to the american version of Let The Right One In.

Looking forward to it being the worst?
If that's the case, I'm also looking forward to the supposed Suspiria remake also being a worst.
Wicker Man is an obvios example. Ahhh... there is one that was a real stinker... I kept thinking it was insomnia, but that isn't it. Oh... it's the one where that ladies husband agrees to be kidnapped so that he can finally find out what happend to his wife...
Thing is.. I never actually make it through any of those... The originals are so perfect though.
I would like a total moratorium applied to remaking movies. There are some that are enjoyable, but until we get this whole reboot/quick remake thing out of the system those need to be put on hold.
I much prefer a rip off. I would have considered going to see Friday the 13th or whatever.. if it was just another crappy sequel or rip on the original. But having to spin it as a reboot... blaaa... no thanks.

Ha ha.. I just also noticed they are doing a remake of I Spit On Your Grave.

 this is my fav part of the movie...

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."
