received this nice note this morning:

Hi. This is LOuie. It seriously is me. Im even going to leave the O stuipdly capatalized because who would pay an intern to do that?? Okay so you bought the thing with my fat face on it and you clicked the button that said i could email you. And i know that now you are thinking "aw shit. Why'd i let this guy into my life this way?". Well dont worry. Because i really swear it that i wont bug you. I will not abuse this privalage of having your email. You wont hear from me again... Probably, unless i have something new to offer you. The reason i'm writing now, in the back of a car taking me to the Tonight Show set, is to let you know that as of now there is some new and cool stuff on my site, related to Live at the Beacon Theater. Theres a thing where you can download and print a dvd box cover and label so you can burn and make your own dvd of the video. And theres a new option where you can gift the special to as many people as you want (for 5 bucks each) and they'll get a nice gifty email from you with a link to the video.
Also, some of you may know, i recently made a statement (that sounds so dumb. Like i'm the president or something) about how the video has been doing online. Im pasting it in here below in case you missed it.
Lastly I'm planning to put some more outtakes of the show on youtube and i think i will put one on the site that is only available for free to you folks on this list, who bought the thing and opted in. But dont hold me to that because really i just thought of it and typed it.
Okay well please have a happy rest of the year and more happy years after that. And please even have been happy in your past. What?
Thanks again for giving me 5 dollars. I bought 3 cokes with it.
Regards. Sincerely, Actually,
Louis

Re: Louie
Organizing a whole tour without going through ticketmaster/ticketfly etc and guaranteeing to Oust The Scalper just makes him even more respectable. 45 dollars any show, no account required. Hitting up Davies Symphony Hall in SF.
Louie comes back on Thursday.

Re: Louie
Yeah, I was going to post about this today - pretty amazing that he's going this route to sell his tickets. You guys should read his skree about organizing the tour - he's rolled a complex Foil the Flippers system into the project, and he's even paying all of the sales tax himself. What a fucking champ!
I broke my longstanding Never Watch that Chump Jay Leno For Any Reason Ever policy last night to check out an appearance by CK. Good 'ol Jay managed to prove himself a remarkably petty chump on four or five occasions throughout the interview, from coming up with the basest insults to react to Louie's comment that Jay might be a unique looking guy; to the utter discomfort on his face with every topic CK chose to go on about brilliantly. Louie proved himself to be one of the most gracious and hilarious men on the planet with the stride of his reactions. What a pud that Leno is! Anyway, Good stuff - glad I watched.
Yes, Louie is back on starting this Thursday. Best show on the box.

David Fucking Lynch!
I KNOW but it was so good. Had a fairly hefty role too. So awesome.

Re: Louie
I'm currently watching Season 4 of Louie online and I have to say this season really sucks. I'm not tuning in to watch a serial drama, I want to laugh! I get that is part of Louis CK's act- the whole social awareness/ lovable loser thing, but come the fuck on already. Btw that 6 part Elevator episode and all he family drama with his ex wife and idiotic daughter Jane I want to bang my head against a wall. The funny off the wall random moments were what made this show. *Sigh* another show bites the dust...

^^
Yeah, i had mixed feelings about it. I suppose you have to give him credit for wanting to keep the show fresh. I thought the style of the series has unfortunately turned into an unpredictable mishmash.
Saying that, i really liked the 'flashback' thirteen-year-old Louie episode (guest starring Jeremy Renner).
The show still has loads of funny moments but its like he's lost his way a bit . . . . it reminds me of Steve Coogan's show 'Saxondale'. First series, very funny comedy. Second series, trying to be a Drama / Comedy. It just did'nt work.

Re: Louie
^^I actually never watched Louie until the 4th season, and then watched the first three on netflix afterwards. So it was definitely a surprise for me to find out the show was soo funny. It does suck that the show has become more of a drama with more subtle comedy. I loved the flashback episode though, that was really well done.

Re: Louie
Yeah I just got done watching that 'Into the Woods' two parter. Kind of freaked me out because the actor playing young Louie looks exactly like my 11 year old nephew. Ginger hair and all...Those were decent episodes but definitely not in the funny realm.
It was crazy seeing Jeremy Renner basically reprising his role in the Town. Oh and Josh Hamilton as a social worker. He was also Louie's upstairs neighbor who got him high in Season 1, but I still remember him from early nineties movies like 'Alive ,"Kicking and Screaming' etc. Guess my mind is stuck in that decade still.

Re: Louie
I beg to differ, I think these darker moments have always been what's made Louie so brilliant and unique beyond mere comedy. Remember the early episode where he gets threatened by some jock bully for example? That was incredibly awkward and discomforting to watch, yet only so effective because it came totally out of left field.
Personally, I'd rather see the show get even "more depressing" (which people have been saying since season one) than become "just another comedy show"...

Re: Louie
I have loved Louie for being honest tv. For showing that many of us are awkward and live in poverty. This season I stopped watching after the 4th episode. It stopped being about us and felt like it was just about how Louie is so uncomfortable with himself. It felt like the same thing that made everyone tired of Woody Allen in the 80's.

Re: Louie
Huh. I'm a little sad to read that so many of you didn't enjoy this past season of Louie. I honestly believe that the show is the most creative, personal and unique enterprise on television, and I found it difficult to believe that it somehow managed to be even more impressive this year than in it's previous three runs. Without judging anyone for their impressions, I simply can't judge the show for not being what I want it to be, as it offered dozens of approaches that I never could have predicted, without ever feeling like it was trying to force me into a situation: the straight-faced surrealism; the bald emotion; the way that well-laid tangents boosted the arcs; the camera being allowed to tell the story... it's nearly impossible to find that level of affecting artifice anymore. Every moment of every episode didn't necessarily actively thrill me, but following all of the tones and strings through all six hours of new stories, well, I couldn't be happier that someone like C.K. was given the opportunity to take as much time as he cared to to make whatever it is that he thought might be worthwhile.

Re: Louie
I think people are missing the point of my complaint. I'm not saying it has to be non stop laugh a minute slapstick comedy. I just miss those random 'funny' off the wall moments. Like when he sees that guy get beheaded in season one, or that scene in last season's finale with the doll eyes, when he goes out to the club and looks like Frankenstein trying to hit on that girl and she screams. I even enjoy awkward moments still (I loved when he went to visit his Dad and hopped on the bike and the the boat to get away), BUT this season has been too preachy and all awkward drama moments for the most part. I found myself tuning out hard during that 6 episode Elevator arc with the Hungarian woman.
^^ i was pretty bored with him dating the hungarian lady. More pamela is good tho (helps that im a huge king of the hill fan haha) Need more of the off the wall stuff like you mentioned about the bike and boat. I take those as like extreme exaggerations of the situation, like when the construction crew crushes and keeps crushing his car down. That is one of the unique elements of the show that i love. Surreal stuff mixed into the seemingly realistic show.

...right behind ya Bunnyboy!
Really REALLY enjoyed the latest season. Even more so than the others to be honest.
Personally, i feel it's delving into serious (male?) emotional territory that other shows fear to tread!
AND there is comedy, it's just dark as all hell.
AND that flashback double episode killed me. Probably hit wayyyy too close to home.

Yeah, that was some of the best TV i've ever seen. Perfectly performed, directed and edited.
I still enjoyed season 4 - but - for me, i found the changes quite jarring. I was enjoying the free-wheeling 'anything can happen' style of Louie. Season 4 had continuity and a story arc which the show did'nt overly concern itself with in the previous seasons.
Like he is quoted saying on Wiki - "Every episode has its own goal, and if it messes up the goal of another episode, I just don't care." This was one of the things i noticed and liked when i first started watching. It was very free and loose. Kind of anarchic.
The new continuity makes it more like other TV shows and reduces what i liked about Louie in the first place.

Another exactly moment for me (one I could not quite articulate previously). I feel the same Moog. I liked that I went into every episode in previous seasons not knowing what was going to happen. Now it's all family/ love drama. While some people might want to call it 'growth', I prefer venomous fuck you Louie so much more than super vulnerable lovesick puppy Louie.
Watched the last episode this morning. Eh. It was really funny Marc Maron was on it (guy who told Louie we use to be best friends). I just randomly picked up his book about a month ago- "Attempting Normal". It was so funny I nearly spit up coffee a few times reading it. Especially the chapters on his feral cats. Never heard of him before that so it was nice to connect the dots.
