No need to watch Avatar, just go see Ferngully: the last rainforest. It is the same story.

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
Small Insignificant Spoiler, you won't know what I'm talking about until you see it, and when it happens it's done in a flash, but Spoiler all the same. Hurry up and see the Movie folks, we need to talk God, Cabin in the woods was the Raddest movie I've seen this year. It reminded me a bit of Troll Hunter, if only for the style of the comedy that was present. It was very dark humor, and the swat slaughter scene was insane, disgusting, and visually was my favorite scene. It's as deep, and gruesome, as it's going to get from modern Hollywood, and I strongly recommend it.

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
Yeah I just figure, it something that's so obscure, that it wont matter unless they see it, your right though David.<----First Names Gotta Love it!
By the way, has anyone seen Roid Rage, or Inbread? If you guys want to see something that's not so mainstream, but still packs the wallup of a larger budget film, check them out. Roid Rage has a the feel of Greg Araki films, mashed together with Hobo with a Shotgun. Inbred is like the 2,000 maniacs with a budget, decent actors, and a good storyline (don't get me wrong, 2,000 maniacs was a hoot.). Both movies were a really fun watch.
Is there a horror section anywhere on SB?

A lot of great ones have been mentioned in the Japanese Movie Thread as well. There are probably many more of them on here but that's as far back as I've searched.

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
Streamed it tonight, pretty bad quality... Maybe that's why I didnt care for it much as I could barely make out the monsters... I honestly kept thinking the controllers were doing the work of heaven and hell. It was ok in streaming, probably would have been Wyatt better in good quality

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
I saw it last night and feel the same way. It was probably one of the most creative horror movies done in the past couple decades and had some laugh out loud funny parts but it was a bit too corny at times. I liked it but did not love it and only really liked the last 30 minutes. Although I must say the girls in the cast were muy caliente and that truth or dare scene was pretty hot and twisted at the same time.
Good camios by some top notch actors that I was surpised with. Overall I would give the movie a c+

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
I saw this last night and I haven't made up my mind about it.
I think it was a very refreshing take on modern horror, but I felt the acting was sub par and they rushed through some stuff. Overall, I am glad I saw it.

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
I went in knowing nothing and was pretty disappointed it was a horror comedy. Enough horror comedies, and definitely enough zombies. I'm still undecided. I seem to be the only person who didn't love it. (and I am a horror fan and "got it") I just think horror movies should be scary.

I just didn't think of it as a horror, and I don't think that should be the way it's described. I prefer stoned out mind bender, or psychedelic mind fuck.

(I had a free ticket about to expire) I was surprised that it held up after knowing the 'twist'

 Re: Cabin in the Woods
I loved/hated this movie. The beginning and ending were forced. The ending I would go so far to say was horrible, even with the outdated NIN song (which I do love). The beginning was heavy handed to set up cliches and I agree that the acting was sub par in place, esp the first half of the film from the stoner.
Over all the whole wasn't as good as the parts, and I didn't think the twist was any real twist, my friends and I kind of saw it coming. I however haven't laughed so hard since Tucker and Dale. The humor and some concetps were very well done and the speaker phone we brought up numerous times after.
I've recommend it to friends with the caveat that it isn't really horror, just kind of messy, and that its uneven.
