 Re: Low brown
That's not how spelling works.. and as far as probability goes, it's useful in grade 3 math but beyond that.. "The abandonment of superstitious beliefs about the existence of Phlogiston, the Cosmic Ether, Absolute Space and Time, ... , or Fairies and Witches, was an essential step along the road to scientific thinking. Probability, too, if regarded as something endowed with some kind of objective existence, is no less a misleading misconception, an illusory attempt to exteriorize or materialize our true probabilistic beliefs." - Bruno De Finetti

 Re: Low brown
The site covers tons of stuff not covered on SB, and if people want to flip, they are going to find a way. This feels a little bit like attacking the messenger for what people do with the information.

 Re: Low brown
Looks like a great new toy blog to me, thanks for pointing it out, going to add it to the list. And like Joe said, when KC died it was a bummer. Seems this guy is following in his foot steps.

badteethcomics wrote: Anyway in Japan it's mainstream as fuck.. Really?!? Bandai as a brand is pretty mainstream. You can probably ask any Japanese person on the street to name something Bandai has made and they probably can. You probably have a better chance asking a Japanese person if they've heard of The Blue Hearts than if they've heard of Secret Base or Gargamel...although they will probably think Smurfs when you say Gargamel.

 Re: Low brown
General consensus seems to be that the new wave of n00bs like it being handed to 'em on a plate and the old guard think they should have to do some fuckin' homework before jumping on the latest hot ticket item to resell a few weeks down the line when they're not feeling it/making space on the shelf/need to pay vets bills . . .
KC was loved when it was one of only 2-3 toy blogs doing the do!
With the multitude of asshats currently looking for some kinda validation by setting up a toy blog, trying to establish themselves as 'credible experts', copy & pasting and then wanking themselves into oblivion over EVERY new release regardless of whether it's good, bad or indifferent, they all just become faceless and generic . . . like much of the crap they tend to feature!

 Re: Low brown
For the record, the only toy blogs I've ever liked were ones that featured events in Japan i.e. KK, and ones directly from Japan that wouldn't necessarily just feature new toys. Even if I couldn't understand the words, the picture essays were worth it. Any asshat can pretend they're Vinyl Pulse.
Badteeth you need to seriously take a math course. Probability is also about being able to recognize patterns. Hey wait I'm recognizing one right now...

 Re: Low brown
My inexpert n00b take is that it´s a nice way to browse new stuff, even when you don't want to get most of it. And I don't (so far). They featured the Buta No Bwana II release and IIRC they sold out only after 30 min, and have not appeared in the aftermarket yet. I got as many as I wanted. There are just so many releases it should IMHO confuse the casual flipper about what to invest in.

Everything else is driving the hype and a recipe for disaster (see comics, sports cards, designer toys, etc.). wasn't increasing the run sizes of hyped comics what destroyed the scene? Well, not so much the increasing run sizes as the mismanagement and wild expectations linked to those. Spawn went up to what, over a million copies? From a few ten thousands? Here, I believe we'd go from what... under a hundred to at max a few hundreds? Nowhere near the same investment. And my point with timed releases was that there's no risk you'll be stuck with dead stock. Which is what happened in comics. The purging of the speculators and -their- dead stock, though, must have felt great. Oh and I don't know that blogs like lowbrownie (or KC) pretend to be anything else than press release aggregators, unlike, let's say, Andy's KK with in-depth articles, own pictures, etc. They serve a different purpose. I understand it's frustrating when you've put a lot of effort into something and then it's offered for none whatsoever to anyone who'd care to look... But that's what the internet did/does to... everything?

But that's what the internet did/does to... everything? Very True... Any site that can cut down the # of sites I check multiple times daily (some with no updates), is fine by me, cause YES, they're are Many "VinylPulse" type blogs now, but Lowbrownie has turned into a Great & surprisingly QUICK collective resource of these. My suggestion is that as part of SB, and from hearing statements like, "Lowbrownie posts some viable information that doesn't make it onto skullbrain" (which I agree with), instead of just thinking that's a good reason for us to visit Lb, maybe you, Lowbrownie, should post what's relevant to our community on Here too. Annnd of course leave lotteries & the like where ya found them
