Thanks for the laughs. This was from an old commercial but it's one of my favorite things to say as the door to a crowded elevator closes...
what if my diarrhea comes back ?

If you could be a vintage toy, would you be "dippy bird" or "smoking monkey"?

Would be cool to set up an AMA for some of the artists that have had healthy careers over the past few years.. I'm sure some people have some great questions for them! Would be an investment in time for the artists though.. and the possibility of revealing some top level sofubi secrets

This is one of my favorite lines. In the 60s Ideal made a series of Munsters toys, but apparentlly the license was pulled after they were done. They still released them as "Ideal Mini Monsters" I have 4 total, but am still missing "Dracky"(I have two "vampy" dolls, which is who is pictured-basically baby Lily Munster)

I am not a doll kinda guy, but I would make an exception for those Ideal mini-monsters (esp. Wolfy & Vampy).

Ok, I thought about this a little bit, and although I think its changing, I don't think women are really fully accepted in many "collecting" communities. (Or in the world, but I will try to stay on topic here!) I realized this past weekend that I wanted to go into a card and game store to buy some (pink-LOL) card sleeves. When I got there, I felt really anxious about opening their door. Why? I tried to confront these feelings, and I realized it was because in the past I have been made to feel very unwelcome in stores like this. I've been outright insulted by comic store owners. I once had this exchange with a shop owner while Skylar was buying comics: "So do you read comics too?" "No, not really, just him." "So what do you do while he's reading them? Clean the house and stuff?" I had to be dragged out of there before I crawled across the counter and shoved a hardcover copy of Watchmen up his asshole. I like retro gaming and a lot of times when we go into stores that sell old NES cartridges and stuff the owners will engage Skylar and ask him what he's looking for, when sometimes it was me who wanted to go there. I feel like they seem shocked when I take things up to the register and pay for them with my credit card, while he looks at his phone in the doorway. haha. There's just this assumption, and I think in general women have not traditionally been welcomed into these spaces. A lot of men and women just believe this to be fact. I have sort of accepted my spot as the "token female" in most of my groups of friends. I'm the girl that goes along to dig in the weird collectibles store, or the one who watches horror movie double features in a garage with 7 dudes when its 25 degrees out. I'm the girl who will spend all day at the record store, playing pinball all day, or digging for a boxed copy of Ironsword at the flea market. I suppose I've got a little bit of tomboy in me, but I think a lot of this stuff is learned behavior and social conditioning that I just don't buy into. We tell girls its not feminine to like monster toys and sleazy movies. I guess I just didn't care. haha. I am sure growing up into punk and feminism helped me there. Anyway-Things are getting better. I don't support places like that store that asked me if I cleaned instead of comics. I will go back to the card store where the owner and his nerd wife surprisingly chatted me up about stuff while I happily gave them my money. If you own a shop, be aware of this when women come in. It might have been their idea to stop in. And if it wasn't, feeling like its a cool place to shop might just create another woman collector in the world, and lord knows this sausage party needs as many as we can get!

Re: AMA (Ask Me Anything) -Skullbrain edition
Missy, I think you said everything just perfectly! Growing up I felt a lot of pressure that liking certain things were unacceptable for girls, which thankfully my teenage years helped me grow out of. I still didn't feel completely free until college, which is when I started indulging in horror movies and collecting monster toys to my heart's content. I'm the token girl in a lot of cases, especially with the video games I play. I think that's changing, though... I seem to run into a lot more females in games now, which is refreshing. I also had a somewhat similar "comic store guy" encounter with a comic seller at Philly ComicCon. I was looking through the comic boxes trying to find myself some Hellboy, and the guy asked what I was looking for. He then presents me with "Baby Hellboy" and said "maybe you'll enjoy this! It's really cute." My polite public self declined, but inside I wanted to just glare at him and say "I'm not looking for a cutesy spinoff. GTFO" I think we still have a long way to go until we're fully accepted into certain groups/fandoms/etc, but times are changing. Until then, I'll just continue not giving a crap what people think about my interests and hobbies and enjoy what I love!

The boy's club mentality of the comic scene is pretty off putting for sure.

Re: AMA (Ask Me Anything) -Skullbrain edition
I am not so much shocked as I am just disappointed to still read stories like this. I mean, are people really that square? (rhetoric, yes, I know that they are...sigh) I can't believe that in 2016 this is still the way things are - sometimes - and I sure hope that it is becoming more the exception than the rule. But similar experiences from female collectors/comic fans/con-goers/gamers/cosplayers/cinephiles/etc., etc. just keep on coming. It is sad to hear, but I do hope it is changing, and seems to, if in baby steps sometimes. All's I can say to the matter is some people are just nobs (whether they happen to have one or not) no matter where you go; and not just to girls. I am really glad and thankful for our female contingent on here, and really hope that it supports more people to speak up who might otherwise feel hesitant to do so.

Nice responses!
Do you think the U.S. is going to fracture into anything approaching a multiparty political system in our lifetime?
