I doubt I'll be going. It costs too much. Also, I hate flying.

I live in San Diego so I should be able to answer questions about where things are if you are looking for a hotel, places to eat or whatever. As long as your hotel is somewhere along the trolley line you'll be okay. Hotel circle in Mission Valley has some affordable hotels that aren't too far from the trolley line.

we stayed in hotel circle last year and without ever having been to SD, we navigated the whole rail system...also Chris, maybe you can answer this...do they ever check for tickets on the SD trolley line? I stopped buying them after a day, because no one ever asked to see them. The east coast transit rider in me cannot fathom the concept of the honor system. Also, everyone was so nice! The drivers wished us all a good day and stuff. unlike here where they close the door on your leg and curse you out.

I wouldn't want to stay that far out if I had a choice to stay elsewhere, and If i did, I would rent a car, but it was definitely managable on the public transit.

They randomly check for tickets. I've been checked probably half of the time I've rode the trolley.

During SDCC I would imagine they only check in the less congested areas. I still wouldn't risk it though, the fine is pretty steep.

if they tried to fine me, I'd just point at them and very loudly proclaim "this guy just said that all Jedi's are fucking losers!" and then quickly scoot away in the confusing mass of brown robes and rat tail braids as the nerds attacked him.
