Post Re: oust the flipper
The only thing I ask myself when I buy a toy is if I really had to could I sell it for the same amount it cost me. I've been collecting Sarumons lately, I know I know one of the only people who still do but a few people want retail and some over retail which if I ever needed to resell I would never recoup my cost. So yeah flippers suck

If you are expecting to be able to resell a toy for your initial investment sometime in the future, you are in the wrong hobby.

I was maaaybe 10yrs old when the first pokemon movie came out. Pokemon was my gateway drug into stuff like magic. But I think I have everyone beat when I say... At one point I played, bought, and sold yugioh cards.

When the Pokemon movie came out my niece was 9 and I took her to see it. I remember a scene where the Pokemon's were fighting, and there was a song about how "We're all brothers". She turned to me with tears building up in her eyes and said "It's o.k. if the movie makes you feel sad Michael, but remember it's just a movie". Best memory with her ever.

On a side note, I'm just curious, how much do them Pokemon cards go for now days? Pennies on the dollar? Remember that the next time you bid 2 g's on a nag.
(Not a dig on Nags, I really like them, but people are spending way to much money on acting a fool).

It was so obvious that if they only did a quick cross-reference of what I've ordered and what I was selling they could have stopped me. But they don't mind, I'm just another gear in their machine. I don't even want to talk about other toy companies.

wait.. whoa whoa whoa. what? are you replying to petitetoilonrouge? not sure why my name is being brought up, but im pretty sure I didn't get those Anniversary MB's from you

that's all i've got to add to this thread... goodbye

What's funny is I made some kid who knows my son reverse a trade on Pokemon black/white for similar reasons. Normally I wouldn't have cared and used it as a chance to teach a lesson (I did still talk with him about it afterwards). That pokemon though I had to take him to gamestop on a specific day and wait in a long ass line to get. They gave it out for a week but I didn't notice till it was the last day. God damn it, I swore I was done with this thread....

You did the right thing. I hate kids like that. In french, we say profiteur.
I think the closet translation would be carpetbagger. Flipper roots if you ask me.

Post Re: oust the flipper
I'd like to share a "flipping" story with everyone who bemoans the "negative vibe" these days.

When I first joined skullbrain, there was a sale on the BST that everyone was complaining about (and back then, it was not just me, Bill and Bryce. People were mean and -vocal-). The seller seemed rather desperate to sell, and asked if retailers would be interested in his items. I ran a toy store, and the price was good enough I could expect to make a profit (which probably didn't happen, but that's beside the point), so I bought the lot from him and posted in his thread something along the line of "everyone's happy now": he sold his items, my store got a good deal, and people wouldn't be bothered with the thread anymore. I was promptly trashed, no, demolished, told to "go jump in front of a truck, cunt", etc. (tangentially immortalized here: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=32016 - btw, I did make about 50$ on the KvP, which was bought for a client at the store, not as a favor to a friend. And Hank is now super nice with me. :) ). I didn't quite understand what warranted that feedback then (and still don't today) but I decided to stick around (mainly because, well, there's no other option if you like kaiju, is there?).

My point is looking at this thread, I find the replies are considerate and much more polite and articulate than I would have expected. People seem to be having an adult discussion and trying to intelligently express their opinion. I do think the "vibe" is infinitely more positive now than it was three years ago. What I find negative is when debate is suppressed (threads edited, locked and deleted like we've seen recently...), when people with different opinions are called "haters" and their arguments not addressed and when everything is brought back to "toys should be fun" (meaning everything should be "wow" and "+1", no debate?). -That's- what made me think about quitting skullbrain. But like Joe was saying, I guess the positive outweighs the negative overall. And again, it's not like we have much of a choice, do we?

Call me when you're glad to drop $20k on toys.
And if you've ever made any type of "work" sold it and seen it go on to become increased in value during your lifetime, you're a success.
Pretty sure Sucklord is stoked to see his Storm Trooper DJ in multiple Christie's catalogs.

So I take it amethystcape your story is complete and utter bullshit about some anonymous lottery winner here selling you that Mecha Ju for big money. I'd also be willing to wager you or a friend of yours shill bid that last auction and you didn't get your greedy price for it. Hence why it's listed again with some lame ass feedback- and oh wait now it has a BIN for the true greedy price your shill bidding was not able to give you!

You are truly a piece of shit and should be banned from this forum. We can't stop you from selling but as least if your IP was banned from here you would never be able to view the forums for future speculation to see what you can try to rob people for.

Oh and you can sob story all you want -how everyone here does it, your trade bait deal fell through, you don't want to take a loss. It's all BS to my ears. All I'm seeing is an asshole who is trying to artificially inflate prices and is taking advantage of people who might want that toy. More than likely took advantage of the toy maker also because I'd almost bet you won the lottery.

I think they are pretty cool and all. I just don't see what is so insanely appealing about them that they are so sought after. Other than the fact that people always want what they cannot have.
