Re: oust the flipper
As much as I agree with alot written here, and disagree with the rest, this thread really has the feel of a witchhunt, and I believe we are all better than that.
Isn't it time to end this thread for now?

heheh artifacts. God, just when I think this thread can't get any better. If we witch hunt all the flippers where will people go to over pay to get their fix? liquidsky wrote: diceone wrote: nefasth wrote: diceone wrote: Just be glad you don't collect the vintage shit I do. WTF Call me when you're glad to drop $20k on toys. And if you've ever made any type of "work" sold it and seen it go on to become increased in value during your lifetime, you're a success. Pretty sure Sucklord is stoked to see his Storm Trooper DJ in multiple Christie's catalogs. puke

Don't you know that guns can't kill witches? You have to drown or burn them. Guns are for everyone else. . ., except Batman, or any Batman collectors.

I don't think this is a witch hunt per say. It's more of a crusade against douchebaggery The maker expressed that these were not to be resold. This dipshit basically entered a lottery specifically to sell it for a mass profit. I'm actually tired of the hypebeast mentality that's running rampant here. Wasn't this once a place to escape the bs that existed over on KR. Now it pretty much is no different.

Re: oust the flipper
Thing is, the board has a short memory if you go along that line. I remember a certain board member who never gets shit anymore who sold a pushead handpaint on ebay for around $2000 years ago soon after getting it. Should we dig that up too? How about all the board members who PM others who are posting "Wanted" requests with sky-high flipper prices (with this, I am referring only to very recently released pieces)?
Anyone have any ideas on a policy that we could vote on, perhaps, regarding how the gorilla-ju flip should be treated? Are we back to posting a "flipper" thread with just handles and what they sold (don't think that will fly)?
I don't like these outrageous flips either, but where do we draw the line? When someone resells a gorilla-ju for $500, or for $2800? And, how do we enforce it if someone crosses the line? If that gorilla-ju were posted here in the BST for $600, how long would it last?
Still, I agree wholeheartedly that this most recent ebay flip was outrageous and that all should be thoughtful of this when re-selling to amethystcape in the future, despite his admission that he is the flipper.

I don't get it, either. I have a bunch of Marmit Godzilla toys and every one of them is better than that Gorilla toy, and I didn't pay more than fifty bucks for any of them. I'm glad that the toys I collect aren't flipper fodder. slipstar01 wrote: melek_taus wrote: I think they are pretty cool and all. Re: oust the flipper
1 - Worrying / complaining about flippers is pointless. They are a part of collecting. 2 - What's more annoying, flippers or those who feel entitled to toys at retail prices? 3 - Without flippers it'd be much more difficult/impossible to get some of these toys - thanks to flippers I'm complete on KvPs. 4 - To the best of my knowledge I've only bought from two flippers - one of them was Ramos.

I can't stand this argument. Why is it pointless? I'll bet a lot of people will think twice about hooking up Amethystcape again, and it didn't take a lot of effort to figure things out. I think the worst thing is doing nothing. Maybe the reason it's gotten so bad is because for at least the last 7 years little to nothing has been done. Also, in case anybody had any doubts, considering the Ju has been relisted confirms the fact that he doesn't give a shit about any of you. I hope my request to ban is approved.

Re: oust the flipper
I flipped some kozik labbits back in 2006 on KR days after buying them. I also had a complete shipping meltdown when my marriage fell apart a few years ago. I am not that sorry for the first admission, but still am for the second, despite the circumstances.
There, I feel better.
Thing is, people make mistakes. But the longer someone is on this board, the more culpable that person should be for those mistakes, especially in the case of extreme flipping, because the board member should know better. I would join a vote to ban amethystcape, provided it was only for a set amount of time.
And, as much as I like Glenn Pogue, I think there should be some consequences for him not responding quicker to the shipping/refunds from his last sale on the board, not that it will probably matter to him at this point. Not to high jack this thread, but does he still owe toys/refunds to anyone? Has he failed to contact anyone still yet?

Re: oust the flipper
I was waiting for this to come up. Yes, I did this. It was a really bad move. I haven't done anything like that since. If I could take it back I DEFINITELY would. You live and you learn. I fucked up but after the literal years of bashing and hate mail I think I can finally be cleared of this? I openly acknowledge it happened though. Not to mention I was kicked out of the FC and banned from buying stuff for 2 full years. The only time I have ever been able to purchase anything has been at SDCC and it was only general releases.
