an ongoing debate here....
like anything else, to each his own. I love all the creative things that all the artists here do with vinyl toys. Some of it is totally rad and some of it is not so good. I think the toy world would be much more boring without said customs.
For me, I find painting toys very liberating. I always found myself looking at a toy thinking: "it would be perfect if it had these colors or finish instead" after paying guys money to do it for me, I can now do it for myself...exactly the way I want.
It's cool with me if you like it or don't like it. what's important in my collection is that I like it.

I am also on record for liking Kirkland's take on a PopSoda dude so I'm somewhat (like .05 percent) of a hypocrite. hahahhaha.

It sure isn't, but thanks for your well-stated views! Much appreciated.
Kinda laughing at myself because in the past couple of months I've bought some blank flesh vinyl with the intention of requesting customs, but once I put the toys on the shelves, they looked great together, so naked they stay. Sometimes being able to see the "pure" sculpt (e.g. flesh Shintosan) is a good thing.

No no no. I appreciate the kind gesture but please don't! hahaha.
I'm still struggling with owning an unofficial paint release (kinda close to a custom).
It's messing up the whole gestalt of my collection.

Hmm this is a tough debate. I dont think anyone has to like anything unless its the person who commissions a custom or buys a figure. I personally feel that some of these toys are great as is, and on another note I like to see what other people can do with it. I personally commission a few customs and I love every single one I have had commissioned. You dont have to like it, but I sure do and thats all that should matter, and it doesnt really matter who it is painting the figure, again as long as I like what they have done to it. To each his own is the real quote we need here. Nothing else fits.

i'm not here to point fingers but a lot of members from over there have migrated here withing the past year or so and while they are some of the first to scream rfso...i reality they have no idea of the meaning and act as they would over there right here on this board. there are good people here too but most were here long before this board got "cool".

I can see that those who migrate over from the KR boards to here are really not welcomed...

alrighty, so I'm coming late. but what "custom" was shown that got everyone all worked up? All I got so far was Manimal did an SB piece?
Personally, I don't have a problem with people doing customs, no matter how bad it turns out or how rare the piece is. Although, I sometimes would like to reach across and choke the shit out of the person for doing it. If it appeals to the person who wants it, then cool. But yeah, some people need to show some tack instead of just trying to push customs that nobody wants. Most people are too polite to say "that custom/drawing/art looks like shit!"
But to balance this, it's always good that these issues come up as it draws a line that people should tread carefully. Afterall, where's the line if you never cross it right?

if you dont like something, just dont like it. If you like something than by all means like it. Why is this a debate. Its all about personal preferrence. And I as well migrated from KR and yes I do still go there and post. And that matters how? I just dont know. Can someone fill me in?

And that means what exactly? If you dont like, thats fine. But Im not here to please you with my avatar. Still not clarifying this for me. If I had a a gargadeath as an avatar would that make me cool in your eyes? This reminds me of a quote...."Dont judge a book by its cover"

No. But it would make it less obvious that you just came from KR.

So what does it mean "coming from KR?" Does it mean im a trendy kiddybopper? Yes, kidrobot got me started on vinyl, and yes Kidrobot just recently got me super hooked on Kaiju, if it werent for Kidrobot Id have no Idea about Kaiju and how awesome this shit really is. From there I also hear about these forums and super7 which really kick ass and am glad I got to know about these things from Kidrobot.

It's just classic Old School/New Jack beef dude, don't worry about too much. If you were to compare it to Punk Rock, the old members = The Misfits, newer dudes = Good Charlotte. Honestly I dunno where I fit in on the comparison so I'm not trying to give you attituted or anything .
