Eventually the public will find some other group to pick on and same sex marriage will be allowed. 2 consenting adults should be allowed to get married if they so choose.

I don't understand why someone would feel that their marriage becomes meaningless if some other people get married. It sounds like the marriage license is more important than the emotions, and would be similar to a racist person thinking their drivers license isn't valid if whichever race(s) they hate is allowed to drive.

 Re: Yes We Can!
Under the current tax break system for marriages, I think 2 would be the limit. Not to mention health insurance and the like. I think it would prove to be a huge system to change in this regard.
However I have no problem if you want 8 wives/husbands. I've got no problem with what people do in their own life as long as it doesnt breach the liberties of another person.

 Re: Yes We Can!
People who want marriage between a man and woman only just don't like gays. Simple as that. The whole "protecting marriage" talk is a cover.

It's a campaign slogan. Were you expecting them to print an entire manifesto on a sign?

I'll still take him over the "Dubya 3peat"...I mean, "maverick" of the Republican party.

 Re: Yes We Can!
Gay marriage will eventualy be ok. It was only in 1967 that the law was passed to allow interracial marriages in the states. Its a slow progress towards true equality.
All we can do is keep trying and keep voting for progress. Or if you want vote for stagnation, flip flopping, and a sure heart attack.

Since I work in Mass I've followed Deval from his first day in office fuck the already fucked the state , sorry Commonwealth, of Mass beyond repair. As a result all the Massholes have been finding refuge in the mighty Maine. Where, by the way, they are subject to one of the highest income taxes in the country... but that's another rant. and no I do not support Bush or the Republican Corporation. I am a working fool who simply wants to keep greedy pricks from making decisions for me.

 Re: Yes We Can!
I don't buy that "gay marriages will one day be ok" they are. End of. For the record, I'm not gay. I just don't believe in telling someone what they can and can't do on a whim. and this smacks of whim to me. I love living in London, and I am under no delusion at all that London is not the UK, as much as it would like to be. London is ultimately a tolerant city. Having lived in the states for years, I can tell you that London is far more easy going about things. Yeah, we have our problems, but nonetheless, it is tolerant. Recently Parliment debated lowering the 14 week term abortion, they also debated whether you needed a male to be involved in fertilisation procedures, after that was the whole stem cell debate. Nothing has changed and everything has been upheld. A friend of mine is living here on a marriage visa. His husband is american. That took me a whole to get my head around. But you know what?!? For all our ID card issues, immigration issues, that I have to pay more and more for, all our youth violent crime (15 kids killed in a city of 8 million in less than 6 months...) our CCTV (kmore than any where else in the world) I'd rather be here. The people on the street don't seem to care as much, you live yours and I'll live mine.
No doubt, Jeb, Donnie, Samba, Smash or who ever will though their stick in my spoke, but everyone's city is their own, and this is mine.
Sorry for my rant, but this whole element of the US really drives me up the wall. First, I can't relate to the imaginary man in the sky, Second, I can't sign up for blind fundamentalism, and third... nah, not my place to tell anyone anything.

And it's not some stupid rumor either. It's a fact he said it. He said it in front of reporters.

I mean, had he said it a few years after Vietnam, fine, I could forgive him for it. But he said this in 2000 while running for President, in front of the Press. At the very least, he should know better.

It is truly racist, but I can't imagine how difficult it would be to try to "RE-humanize" a group of people you were trained to hate and kill (and in his case, tortured by).

I think if 9/11 (an attack by foreigners inspired by a religion that is not common in America) hadn't happened, you wouldn't see such a strong push against same-sex unions, but ever since then everyone has become terrified that their invisible monster has forsaken them and that the other peoples' invisible monster is going to eat them up. I like explanation, it works very well and cuts to the heart of the matter. but... First, you have to prove to me that there is a god and/or a monster other than the collective conscious. I'm not really asking you to do that, cuz you can't, I'm merely explaining my disgust. Second, you will have to explain to me why Americans are such sheepish stupid people that can't think for themselves. Again, I don't think that is the case, but it certainly seems to be the prevailing attitude. (Really really not being mean or anti american. I am only pointing out that some things look funny from outside the walls.) Finally... I left before 9/11... I thought it was pretty ugly then, are you saying it has gotten worse? Seriously?

Hating an entire ethnic group for the actions of a select few is a total cop-out, and completely racist. My father was Jewish and some of his family were executed in concentration camps during WWII. Was he supposed to hate all Germans for the rest of his life? Is it acceptable to hate all Mexicans if you were victimized by a Mexican gang? This is exactly what leads to racism - isolated incidents of personal experience that inspires hatred towards an entire group of people. It's not acceptable for your average citizen, much less a presidential candidate.
