I'm gonna watch Motel Hell tonight, it's been 20+ years since I first saw it on VHS

I can not stand this movie for the simple fact that Cliff Claven plays a member of a punk band, it bugs me out every time I watch it.

In the Mouth of Madness is the only horror movie that kept me up the night after watching it. although there may have been something in my system keeping me awake and adding to my terror. I love John Carpenter films, but In the Mouth of Madness is the only scary one for me.

In the Mouth of Madness is incredible, I love all of the ties to Lovecraft. I'm a sucker for Prince of Darkness as well (I found the "from the future" messages especially creepy). OK, fine, I love pretty much all of John Carpenter's work. :)

I dug Midnight Meat Train as well, but it was definitely fleshed out from the short story (and not in a good way).

For some true "real-life" horror (as in, not some monster running around offing sex-crazed teens), check out Audition by Takashi Miike. It's an amazing, and amazingly disturbing, film.

since someone pulled this thread out, i will add that, based on Ultra Gigan's mention of Video Dead, i came across the VHS at a pawn shop not to long ago for $0.99, best buck i ever spent. the movie totally rules. zombies sticking ladies in washing machines is brilliant! the gore is good, the subject matter is just the right amount of bizarre, and the quality is pure camp! definitely a must see. thanks to UG for mentioning it.

oh, and the video box art is almost better than the film! :D

and when trying to find the box art image to post here, i found that the film will finally have a dvd release, but the cover art totally sucks. total full moonish. it always sorta sucks when a vhs i have gets released on dvd. takes away from the obscurity of it all. hopefully cellar dweller stays in the anals of vhs history...

Some films just aren't meant for the clarity of DVD. The graininess of VHS adds to them.

I finally got around to watching Suicide Club over the weekend.
Good, not great, but good.

Also saw Rambo 2008, holy shit! was that gory! I really enjoyed it, loads of fun.
