Judging by this thread I've seen nearly every british comedy ever so I need some new shit! As for recent stuff have you tried 'Fresh Meat' ? - its supposed to be really good, i haven't got round to watching it yet but my brother and all my friends reckon its funny. It has one of the guys from The Inbetweeners in it . . . . 'Fresh Meat' written by Peep Show creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, its already going down a storm with the press; "Smart, sympathetic and pretty much adorable from the get-go" - The Guardian "Brilliant new comedy drama" - The Sun "It has hit written all over" - The Sunday Times "Brilliantly observed. Excellent Cast" ***** - Heat My roommate has it, haven't gotten around to it yet either. Love Peep Show & Mitchell & Webb so dunno why I've been lagging on that one. ...and new Alan Partridge stuff you say? That's great. Coogan rules, Tommy Saxondale is one of my favorite characters. The Trip was really, really good too.

 Re: UK Comedy Series
^^^ I always liked One foot in the Grave . . . . Richard Wilson who plays Victor Meldrew in the show has a great cameo in Father Ted where Ted and Dougal keep annoying him with his catch phrase "I don't believe it !!" . . . . he ends up physically attacking Ted Hyacinth Bucket from Keeping up Appearances was marvelous too - like you say, old school innocent and wonderful.

Is that a real 12"? I'd totally buy that! There needs to be a Dean Learner rap album from the 80's "dug up" someday.
I'm also totally in love with the Sherlock series. He's going to be an awesome "Smaug" I think.

 Re: UK Comedy Series
INBETWEENERS!!!!!!!!!! Hands down funniest show in ages. The UK Office - how uncomfortable can one feel...excellent. Extras Nathan Barley - Peace n'fuckin', yeah? Little Britain first two seasons deffo - but deifnitely NOT the US HBO version tho...yes, but no, but yes... Catherine Tate - am I bovvered?
Older stuff: Ab Fab Vicar of Dibley (cool kids will hate this - but chocolate sponge with taramasalta icing makes me laugh)
Totally not UK, but NZer Chrs Lilley's current show Angry Boys makes me laugh the same way as some of teh above.

Matt Berry's Album Opium is pretty good . . . . makes me laugh anyway . . . . its actually very professionally produced. Kinda reminds me of The Doors album 'An American Prayer' Matt Berry by darkmavis, on Flickr the track Love is a Fool (Again) later evolved into the Snuff Box theme

I'm sure if I'd read "Zany British Doctor show" I would have ran in the other direction, but sitting down with it everything works! Plus it's got Tamsin Greig from Black Books in it! Actually it seems to have one actor from everything good in it... smitten.

 Re: UK Comedy Series
Yeah, i thought it was funny but had a little too much vocal gurning from Fielding. It made me realise why the Boosh works so well . . . Julian Barratt adds a calmer laid-back counterpoint to Fieldings in-your-face surrealism. I still laughed a lot though, will watch a few more episodes before i form a solid opinion. Speaking of surrealism - i started watching 'This is Jinsy' on DVD the other week and i love it. The two main stars play multiple characters in the show and there are many guest appearences, for example: Jennifer Saunders plays the voice of the Jinsy public address system, Harry Hill (dressed in drag) plays Ms Joon Boolay, arbitur of strange and cruel punishment, David Tenant plays Mr Slightlyman the extremly camp local TV celebrity and Peter Serafinowicz who plays a cupboard salesman who is mistaken for 'God' himself by the islands eccentric inhabitants. This is Jinsy has elements of Monty Python, Vic & Bob, The League of Gentlemen and the Mighty Boosh to name a few . . . . if you like your comedy on the weird side check it out!! My Two Favourite People at the Moment by Meow Kitty Cat, on Flickr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_is_Jinsy

I started watching 'Peep Show' on a whim because I saw a quote from the show that mentioned Jesus & Mary Chain. Funny how something like that will make you curious? I immediately loved it, and often find myself laughing uncontrollably on my bed. Seasons 1 through 6 are available free on IMDB through Hulu.

Ah Peep Show. Such a painfully honest look at working a dull office job and having a shifty flat mate Superhans is a great creation: "People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people, Jeremy."

Yeppers! Love the old innocent UK comedies! Are You Being Served and Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) in Black Adder had me in stitches when I first saw it! If you think Mr. Bean is funny, Black Adder is even better! http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/blackadder/You can catch it on YouTube http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sclient=ps ... 73&bih=800The Arch Bishop episode is hilarious (discussing ways to sell papal pardons, curses and phoney relics) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjemxb ... p_creationIt was banned in some regions, because of the satire on The Church P.S. Sherlock season 2 won't start until May 6 here in the Bay Area

I'm loving "The Thick of It". Malcolm Tucker is the best character ever created. In the Loop was funny but the series is better.
