...survival skills anyone? Listen to the podcast (link below) (warning, it's boring! But the book looks interesting!) http://www.artofmanliness.com/2015/10/1 ... situation/ *Might come in useful when dodging agressive Black Fridayers *I think I want this for Christmas!

One of my favorite true horror stories (read the book when I was sea faring around the Aleutians a long time ago!) Shackleton's Endurance Expedition (1914) Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZuydFcnGzs
*Scott was 11 miles from a major food cache, that would have possibly saved them. The remains of that cache was discovered in 1986, and displayed in a Christchurch museum https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid= ... 2864&hl=en
I still remember this series when it aired on PBS, nicely done, I think (nice to see it available on YT!) The Last Place on Earth 1985 Ep. 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ27CIoRg28
*by comparison, you can see just how close Shackleton got to the South Pole (just 112 statute miles, 180 km)--this was his 1908-1909 attempt (not the same as the Endurance Expedition, which took place in 1914)
Here is the food cache they found and put in a museum...
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed them! I never know if I'm being long winded or boring (apologies to those who do find these posts boring and/or annoying ) . Thanks for the space program link! I will enjoy watching that
*Fast forward into 57 seconds... dontchathink the Hairy Frogfish should be a Kaiju toy? P.S. If you view it in full screen mode, notice the brittle star and baby crab, happily riding on the flounder's head--poor things

The first feature-length handpainted movie in history is being made... An ode to one of art's greatest and most misunderstood painters, Vincent Van Gogh.
Every frame is a single oil painting. There are over 100 artists contributing their time and work to this project. One artist in particular just celebrated 960 hours of painting.
Absolutely mind-blowing, and something to definitely keep an eye on as production continues.

Wasnt that one Ghibli movie about the tiny princess completely made with watercolors? I am of the camp that hates painting in most of its iterations. But this is a film, so not painting and I am looking forward to this.
On that painting note, I saw that Hockney documentary a few days ago and it is stellar, very recommended. The man is just a charmer and its refreshing to see his kind of painting take the spotlight for a second at least.
Also, the Art Institute here in Chicago has a thing on Van Gogh's room with lots of diary notes and works. Great show if you guys happen to be in town.

You're welcome, so glad to hear that the timing of my post worked out.
Sorry to say, my breakfast was meatless: A savory waffle filled with sweet red peppers, onions and spinach; and smothered in eggs and Hollandaise sauce.
