That's cool as fuck John!

I heard Keith Morris was living in Vancouver sometime after being in Black Flag and was working at a Flag store that's right around where I live, probably not true but I thought it was funny.

I saw them at some dive bar the first time they played in L.A. and no one there knew what to expect, then all of a sudden there are 4 drummers and half naked people were jumping all over the place - they blew our minds! I saw them every chance I could after that and they were always an incredible experience.

One of the last times I saw them play was at the Troubador (club in West Hollywood) and because they couldn't do the usual pyro show (the club is all wood inside) at the end of their set they strapped their drums on, marched outside and did another 20 minutes on the grassy center divider in the middle of Santa Monica Blvd. with the firebreathing and everything. There were a ton of us out there with them, traffic was stopped in both directions and it was total anarchy. We dispersed when we heard the police sirens, but because the traffic was so blocked up everyone got away ticket free. :D

I feel like I'm misisng out by not even knowing of Crash Worship!

The troubadour is my favorite venue in LA...actually my favorite out of London, LA and NY. Can't macth that story, but did see the Toilet Boys use pyro and blow huge flames .... enough to light some guys hair on fire, who ran to the s##thole men's room clutching his head. A few months later I read about them having to evacuate the Astoria 2 in London when they set the ceiling on fire there. It all seemed pretty funny until the Great WHite disaster.

I'm sure most people on here wouldn't give a s##t, but the Strokes are at the Troub tonight. I tried in vain to get a ticket via the fax onsale, but no luck, just 30 fax confirmations indicating a busy line. Where do u live in LA blashyrkh? DId u get to Meltdown for the Henshin Show? Its still on as far as I know, because the ultra famous replacement for that setup isn't installed as yet.

I ain't heard of Crash Worship either...

But Hyper, man...a nice list and some similar tastes there lad.
I really love Sonic Youth. I went off them for ages when I moved on to more electronic stuff and left the "Alternative" scene. Found my "Dirty" CD one day and BLAMO back in love with the Youth. Never seen them live though.
Other stuff in your list: Daisy Chainsaw. I still love their first EP...so much noise and fuzz. Also PJ Harvey, Blonde Redhead, Femmes, Neubaten and cool to see another Bauhaus listed too. Would like to hear some Lords of Altamont. Been trying to get into Throbbing Gristle, but am liking Psychic TV better.

I am going to see Henry Rollins at a spoken word gig in few weeks. Ain't seen him live in any form, so am looking forward to it. Going to be pretty intimate as the venue is small.
That's pretty damn mad you hung out with the Rollins and the Flag HOTTROD!!

They were a pretty awesome band from San Diego in the late 80's-mid 90's Industrial/Experimental scene, but sadly their recorded output does not nearly match the power of a live show. I have a couple of live VHS tapes, but they look pretty horrible because you can mostly just see black with some firecrackers going off every once in awhile and occasional blasts of fire breathing, and the autofocus goes crazy when that happens. Think early E.N. but more tribal.

I live in Valencia. It's Rick from Drunken Master, so I get to see the Henshin show every day! I don't know what they have planned next, but this is the best show they've had. I walk by drooling :) I'll hook up with the Crash Worship when you come by next time.

Paul - Tell us some about "newer Psyche". I assume you mean psychadelic yeah? I listen to early 70's late 60's stuff, but don't know much newer stuff. Only know of Dead Meadow really.

Moriachi reminded of a great band, the Celibate Rifles. They played Tokyo a few weeks back and I couldnt get in as I was too broke!!

And dont worry, japanese hardcore is still going strong! Gauze is playing a in couple weeks and I will be there for sure. You guys ever hear of Shikabane or Fuck on the Beach? Killer hardcore. The cool thing about shows here are you can get in the pit and not get your head kicked in like when I lived in Seattle in the early '80s, I am toooo old for that shit now.

Converge, "When Eagles Become Vultures", beautiful.

Favorite band ever, Big Black or the Residents, I can never decide.

Yes, newer psychadelic.
There's bands like Rock Four from Israel, outrageous Cherry, All night Radio, Dungen

Alot of stuff on the "Rainbow quartz" label is really authentic sounding.

Man, I used to listen to (and love) Gauze in the late 80's and had no idea they are still around. Maybe I could send you some funds to get some of this Japanese hardcore music through you if you are interested...

Do you know of Outo and Systematic Death as well?

Outo!!!! I totally forgot. And Systemtaic Death sounds familiar but I cany place it. Do you have any of their stuff? I will have to go check it out.

If you want to send a list that is totally cool, I will check for you. Most of my friends here are music people so I should have some decent luck if you are looking for CDs, vinyl is like gold here so I dont touch it anymore.

I think I still have a duplicated cassette somewhere that is marginally playable with many of these bands on it. There was this cat named Steve Zorn (nephew of spaz jazzist John Zorn) in my Japanese classes during high school and he was WAY into the Japanese hardcore and introduced me to a lot of it. I haven't been exposed to the scene in such a long time, I had almost forgot how savagely good the music really is...

I still have some vinyl records of some of this stuff, including some Lipcream. Have you heard of SOB (Sabotage Organized Barbarian)?

I'll have to put together a list of some things that I am interested in getting ahold of.

If any of you guys like hiphop music at all, you should reaaaaally do yourself a favor and check out Serengeti from F5 records! This cat is freakin amazing, and he even did the first hiphop track entirely about Hacksaw Jim Duggin

He is giving away his 3rd publicly released album for FREE here:

http://container473.com/mp3/Serengeti-Racetrading.zip

this is an extremely solid release, and I think some of the more open-minded heads on this board will enjoy some unique lyrics and incredible production! Check him out!!!!

One of my fave rap outfits thats been uber ignored is Blood Of Abraham.
Check their only actual release, 1994's "Future Profits"

it'll keep you listening for months, and just a note, it does not "fit in" with rap of that time.

a little religious (jewish), a little political, a little so insanely addictive in a cool way your head will be bouncing by itself.
