The Thick Of It is incredible and they are making the new series now as well, also a new one called Hebburn, which is based near me in Newcastle and has Vic and Bob in it. If you ain't seen much of their stuff its incredible but its one of those things of you will either hate or love it.

They did a show called Caterick and its amazing, plus they have loads of shows/series they did as well. Morrisey the consumer monkey is amazing and one of my all time favourites http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=towd9vZWDJgand since I cant stand Sting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4Zot1i7bJk

^^^ I wasn't hip to Catterick, so thanks for that!

Totally pleased that the new series of The Thick of It is finally underway, and totally surprised to discover that the whole run is now readily available in the US now via Hulu.

Anything else out there that's been making you smile lately? I've not been digging this year like I usually do and am wondering what else is going on in UK funny.

Hunderby is a new comedy I'm really enjoying, it is written by Julia Davis so it's got plenty of Nighty Night style inappropriateness. Definitely worth a look!

I liked Catterick but I thought it ran out of steam towards the middle . . . . I did like the fact they recycled two of the best characters from 'Bang Bang, It's Reeves and Mortimer' . . .
Chris and Carl from The Club.

The best Vic & Bob in my opinion will always be 'The Weekenders' episode 'Meat Festival' . . . which is a lesser known slice of absurd comedy genius!

Check it out here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLWdV8PM ... verified=1

Best 'surreal sitcom' episode ever !!

Meat Festival really is one the strangest bits of TV I've ever seen, brilliant from beginning to end!

One I always go back to and re-watch on a regular basis is '15 Storeys High' created by and starring Sean Lock.

15 Storeys High is a critically acclaimed British sitcom, set in a tower block. The main characters are Vince Clark, a misanthropic, cynical recluse played by Sean Lock, and Errol Spears, Vince's exact opposite and whipping boy, played by Benedict Wong.

Very British and very funny! :D

I watched the first episode a year or two ago, on accounta Heap, but I didn't love it at the time. I'll have to give the series another go.

Got to say Russell Howard has been a recent fave of mine..

His show on BBC3 "Russell Howard's good news" is really great..

Not a comedy series,,,more of a topical weekly news round-up with an edge  gets me laughing everytime!!

Post Re: UK Comedy Series
been watching the new Peep Shows, finally watched Hunderby (which was amazing). Just rewatched the 2nd season of Todd Margaret today. Not much new stuff lately. That Armando Iannucci show on HBO earlier this year was good, not a UK show but he's made so many good things on British television that it sorta counts + it's basically the American version of The Thick of It.

Post Re: UK Comedy Series
Just wanted to mention Vic & Bob's new sitcom HOUSE OF FOOLS.

Its on the BBC at the moment and its very funny. I'm biased because i've always been a rabid fan of theirs but i think its the best thing they've done in ages.
It's a very simple, almost old-fashioned sitcom style but the content is as mad as a bag of spanners in that particular way only Vic & Bob can do.

The supporting cast are all great and if you're a Matt Berry fan you'll be in heaven. He's so good in it.

Anyway, i highly recommend it if you're in the mood for some no-frills, goofy and surreal fun . . . . . you twat.

Lead balloon if it hasn't already been mentioned in a great series, recently got into fresh meat, took me a while and some of its a little predictable but its still worth a watch, both are on netflix if you have a plugin to access the UK version.

I'm in love with House of Fools at the moment. Everything about it just slays me. Vic and Bob just never tire for me because after decades they still manage to surprise. Berry in particular is amazing in everything, so glad they got him on board. Bob's Swedish son took a while to grow on me until I started taking great pleasure in pronouncing 'bollocks' in his voice. Just to myself...you know...as you do.

Lead Balloon is great. Mind you, anything Jack Dee does is usually good quality.

I agree about Bob's son . . . . i wasn't sure to begin with, but now i'm really enjoying his facial expressions and weird accent. The whole supporting cast is very funny. I'm very impressed how they manage to pack so many ideas into each episode!

I love Dixon Bainbridge/Todd Rivers- I mean Matt Berry! I'll have to check this out. Could use a good laugh.

I binge watched almost all of the Inbetweeners last night and today. Pretty funny but that Will guy is an annoying twat, and Simon is unbelievably awkward with women. Guess that's what makes it funny though.

Cockroaches

Enjoying this one at the moment.
I wouldn't say its classic but i've watched four so far, and its consistently made me laugh.

Mostly unknown cast but a few familiar faces pop up here and there:
Nigel Planer is in at least one, Renton Skinner (Bosh from House of Fools) is a minor character.
Alexander Armstrong (Armstrong and Miller) turned up as a doctor . . . .

Seriously, if you aren't watching House of Fools series 2 you're missing out . . .
Morgana Robinson is hilarious as Julie, she should get a comedy award for her performance!

The hands thing had me doubled over. Wasn't so sure of Series 2 until that Moth episode but everything about it was perfect. Morganna is amazingly funny, too. Charlie Brooker has her in for Weekly Wipe where she's almost as good as Philomena Cunk.
