Good point. I dont suppose Mike Milligan reciting a passage from 'Jabberwocky' is a reference to extra terrestrials?
Its from the book 'Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There'.
I'm clutching at straws . . . .

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

That was so good.

If this show doesn't win the Emmy in every category I'm gonna hurt some people.

It really is so good. I love the Dodd character, yet was totally rooting against him down in that basement. Can't think of another show that I'd temporarily jump ship on a favorite character like that.

I like Dodd as well but I can't stand Ed and Peggy Blumquist, so I was rooting Peggy would meet her end in that basement.

LMAO of Dodd taking the belt to his brother. I was like WTF? Who does that?

I like Dodd, too, but I really think Peggy and Ed are going to get out of this by sheer dumb luck.

I also think Mike Milligan is going to meet his end at the hands of Simone, and that will have been her play all along to get in good with her pops. And yes, I know she's asked Mike to kill her dad a couple times now, but things will probably change considering what happened in the last episode.

And then there's this: http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/cats-cr ... 201643252/

Could be interesting.

I get mad at Ed for not seeing through Peggy's starry eyed dreams and using him, and I just don't care for people like Peggy in real life. Full of BS and no substance, who use and use and use people- working their way up the food chain. I get amused watching Peggy try to squirm her way out of everything with the dumbest logic, like no one sees through it.

So please please please let her get what's coming to her!

I felt that way at first about Peggy, but the "idiot" has been routed out of the previous Fargo iterations, and I feel like it's time for a change. I don't like her by any means, and she certainly doesn't deserve to get away with it, but if the numb-skulls get their comeuppance every time it'll seem disingenuous.

Its funny, i dont see Peggy that way at all. She annoyed me to begin with but now i feel sorry for her. She seems like a lot of people who live in isolated small towns - forever dreaming of another life, but never actually taking the plunge and doing anything about it. Just sticking to the same routine and sleep-walking through everything, just doing whats expected. I see her as more of a victim of 'Lifespring', which is the kind of organisation that preys on unhappy and susceptible people (very much like major religions.)

Like Danson said, she is 'kinda touched'. She's definitely not on the same page as the rest of the world including her husband. This seems the best explanation for her strange behavior.

I think this is likely, too . . . but who knows.

This ended up being my least favorite episode of the season. The dialogue, especially at the beginning during the funeral scene, was much more stilted than anything so far this season. Didn't like the addition of the doofus from Buffalo either. Something just seemed off, not as sharp.

And at least one of my predictions was already laid to rest. Still think ol' Ed and Peggy are gonna get out of this, even with the "Indian" hot on their tails.

Yeah, I was feeling that this was the least of the eps this year, too... but the back half had some great stuff, so I figured I'd give it a second pass before I passed judgement.

Oh, I'll be watching it again. I dug the scene with the wife coming home and grabbing that shot-gun.

So the calls to the Gerhardt house about Dodd were Ed. The last one was Hanzee though, and he knew where Dodd was too. That means Hanzee is hot on Ed's trail? Why call home base then? Just kill them/rescue Dodd no?

Stumbled on a pleasing recap and review of last week's installment:
http://www.chud.com/170036/fargo-did-yo ... ou-did-it/
Haven't read this fellow's stuff before, but I'm looking forward to digging in.

I've also been meaning to mention these little videos:

Relentlessly pleasant and refreshingly brief.

PS: You're a shit cop; you know that, right?

What was the purpose of The Undertaker? Seemed like wasted time and pure conjecture on a 'true' story.

One thing to remember about Peggy is this is right after the women's rights movement. Most women couldn't get decent paying jobs then to be able to rely on themselves. Societies fault, not hers. People just going through the motions until they realize how trapped they are.

When Betsy walks into Hanks place and his study is wall to wall notes I think they are all UFO notes. Seems perhaps he is a ufologist (probably a better word for that)?

I think the purpose of the Undertaker was to show that Milligan is in it to win it. He's not stepping aside for anyone, and is going to finish off the Gerhardts himself if he has to.

Ooo weee, what a great episode. One minor complaint on my part, but it was a great slow burner with tension a'plenty. Plus, great flashes of the original movie in this one.

"But I'm goin' crazy out there at the Lake"

Yeah, also the scene from No Country For Old Men when Chigurh has a little chat with the elderly convenience store worker.
There were some tunes from the Big Lebowski in the previous episode too, that made me smile.

There has been a real mish-mash of styles going on in these later episodes but i'm still loving it.
The whole Dodd Gerhardt bit was great. I am finding it hard to understand Mike Milligan's cryptic meanderings
but maybe thats the point.

My one complaint, as alluded to earlier, is that I find it hard to believe Dodd would not have killed Peggy outright. Maybe he thought he did, but after what he had been saying to her all episode long, I doubt he would have left anything to chance.

And... the pillow case over the head, the problem with the TV, the show about bugs, etc., etc. Funny stuff.
