I thought they were neat... I really didn't know what they were doing there, but I thought the display cabinets full of the little figures was cool.

Hmm, weird. But I'm strangely intrigued. Something about a robot electrified barbed wire deathmatch is very cool to me. I'm not really sure what the whole point of it is, but I like the design and presentation of it all (although the site is very slow).

the deal is..the guy makes all these little cardboard robots and then makes them fight in a little ring while he films it. them he uses CG to edit out his hands and add effects. seems like a LOT of work they had a HUGE booth with a tiny ring inside a full sized one.

suppossedley its very popular in japan.
I hate transformers looking stuff so it left me cold. I can see the cultural connection to 'puppet theatre and 'Noh' invisible assitants but...whatver.

That explains it, then. I'm sure it said that somewhere on the site, but it was unbearably slow for me to wade through. I like the section describing all of the 'factions' with bios and photos of all of the characters.

I could not believe how big of a booth they had for this, and the dollar amount they spent on equipment must just be phenomenal. it was like a whole block of floorspace for the booth, with a big ring, several cameras, a soundboard, a few computers, etc. how you make that back by filming cardboard robots fighting, who knows?

apparently Carl told me he saw Hiddy staring intently at this, almost in a trancelike state, for at least 10-15 minutes. just zoned out watching it.

I wonder who paid for the set-up it was massive and expensive. they have started selling plastic kami(paper) robot toys in japan - pretty similar to stikfas.

Held my attention at the con for a few seconds every time I passed by, but with TT to the other side, well....you know :)

seriously, I thought it was a big waste of space, as I couldn't figure out his business model and what was really being offered.

I couldn't find the cg edited one, would be interesting to see.

I really liked seeing the guy get some recognition. He started out poor, wacky and imaginative and worked hard to bring it all up. I used to watch the site he had for it...it had just broken into Japanese cable...people were BETTING on the fights!
