 i have a question....
I Got a marmit matango new in bag today.....when I was taking it out of the bag, I noticed that it was slick/wet/oozing....my hand was covered in a film of oil.
I thought it kind of weird because the other matango i got a few years back didnt have this issue. I took a napkin/paper towel to it, to mop up some of the matango juice, and some of the color is coming away......i could expect some of the paint might come off, but was wowed by the fact that the base color (pink) was coming off as well....
Is this a common occurance, that my being a bit of a Fresh Meat, I had just not experienced yet?
I remember the thread from awhile ago regarding the manufacturing process and the chemicals constantly being emited by our favorite toys. Oils being part of the process to make the vinyl, of course some would come out. But enough for the toy to have a pretty solid film of it? The bag he came in has noticeable oil residue still as well.
Needless to say Matango is sitting on my desk here, drying out.....just curious....
What's your 2 cents?

This very issue with the Marmits was recently discussed on the Club Tokyo list:

yeah, i've seen it before. usually a gentle soap bath will fix it. there are oils in the paints.

its fine. i had a hell of a time finding it, and it wsn't even the one i was thinking of. there was another more specifically about this. its a common problem w/ metallic paints, & you should be able to carefully wash off the excess with (GENTLE)dish liquid & water.
as always, I take no responsibility to lost paint. test a tiny spot first! We have our share of oily toys though, and this has always worked.

ok, yes. that is an eraser. and precisely. do not remove any paint! just the oil. haha. a light rinse should do the job.
