Post Pets on Leashes
For those with pets, please, PLEASE keep them on leashes or at home with a proper fence!

I just saw a dog get hit by a car right in front of me for the second time in the past 2 months--it was loose but had a collar so i know it wasnt a stray (not that that matters).

I literally heard a crunch when it got hit and it was awful, like stomping through snow--and the family inside the SUV just sped off without stopping. They knew they hit the dog because they slowed down before running over it a second time.

i tried to chase after the SUV to get the license plate # but couldnt read it since it was dark. When i went back, the dog had disappeared but i'm sure it wont survive.

Sorry this is so long, but please keep an eye on your pets!!!! I have a dog of my own and this made me feel really helpless and upset.

I hear you - my guys are never out without a leash (attached via a harness so they don't get trachea damage, which is a pug thing, and means you can never attach a leash to a collar on them).

Obviously this upset you, otherwise you wouldn't have posted - and I can understand why. Thanks for reminding us.

My dog has slipped out of the house without a leash and it scares the heck out of me. Worried whether someone might just pick her up (since she is a very friendly dog) or might get ran over. This has happened many times and we search for her for hours, and when we come back, she was waiting right at our front door.

I always hate seeing people with their dog's in the back of their trucks. Makes me nervous as hell.

I have the seen the same thing with a cat and ended up trying to find the owner but couldnt so I buried it behind my apartment house in SF. They need to stay in and be leashed too. :(

Watching an animal get hit by a car is always a horrible site to witness. My dog never goes outside without a leash. Though the other day someone left my back door open and my cat escaped. She hasnt been back since, we put up flyers and stuff but still nothing. She is wearing a collar with our info too.
