If you like fitted-style shirts, go with the Japanese size (i.e, if you wear M, buy a Japanese M). If you want a normal t-shirt, go one size larger than the U.S. size.

That's my general rule, anyway.

i find most BxH shirts to fit pretty true to size. some are a lttle tighter than others.
SB shirts tend to run a little on the narrow side but the length is good. i just got a cure shirt that is plenty wide enough but a bit short... so i think it all depends on what shirts youre getting... but if you wear medium/large i would def get a large to be safe.

if you are shorter, definitely check the measurements-I know skylar has a hard time buying shirts, because the lengths seem to be much longer than US tees.

I'd say just measure yourself. My years of catalog/website clothing have prepared me to help show you how to measure. just ask. :)

a seamstress measuring tape is crucial.

As a disclaimer, I don't have any BxH, SB or other toy-related shirts... I'm speaking more in the generic sense of Japanese clothing from Uniqlo, etc. The fit might be different for those types of clothing.

I prefer Japanese sizing over US sizing. My SB and BxH mediums fit so much better then US mediums.

Second Missy's comment on short sleeves...

I am a US Medium, Small if I want the shirt to be fitted, so I would normally go for a Japanese Medium (since they fit a bit smaller than a US Medium). But the sleeve lengths always seem so short. Anyway, I have bought a couple Large shirts from Japan and I just shrunk them in the dryer. They end up being around a US medium with the appropriate sleeve length.

If you are a Stussy medium (to name a common brand), go with a large in japanese, its going to be a bit more loose unless you shrink it up. You are basically looking at length of shirt more than width around the mid section. Like a japanese up sized doesn't get much wider around the mid section but does shoulder and length to make up for height. If you want to shrink it up a bit more than normal shrinkage go cold water cycle then right into a dryer on high heat. Then after that just RINSE cycle it in warm water to make it last longer, unless you get it really grubby or smelly that should suffice for the most part, it will keep your screen print crack free (here comes some jokes for that) the color will hold up better on the fabric and it won't gradually shrink on you as much, then just hang dry it. It is a lot of care for a tee but worth it.

Someone had complained a jacket was snug on them here. If you wear a medium US you should probably wear a L US in a jacket, same as japanese stuff, up size the jacket a size from your shirt USUALLY unless you want a snug fit, especially if the jacket has a cross stitched sleave rather than a straight one like a tee shirt.

I am six foot and 185 lbs and always fit larges in japanese stuff and medium US.
