it was a total pacman ripoff, but when munchman was caught, he would melt then disappear with a great noise that sounded like ooooooAAAAAAooooooooooo MAH!

EDIT: BTW akum6n, I was so close to including the mega man explosion

EDIT #2 ---and I can't believe I didn't include my main man Thrilla wiping out during th T&C game with the game show "you blew it," music coming on

Smurfs for ColecoVision.
Totally, hilariously abrupt and unceremonious.
An electronic fart sound and your little blue guy would instantly be horizontal.

The "death" sound from Ms. Pac Man is still stuck in my head. I'm sure there were better deaths from the old arcade and early console days, but that's the one I'll always remember. If you want to see xoco make a total fool of himself some day, ask him to sing the Ms. Pac Man theme song and make some noises from the game. To his shame, he can do that.

This will show how young I am but I used to love pounding bad guys into the ground then kicking them in the face in battle toads.

i remember playing space quest in 89 and that had some pretty cool deaths.. getting eaten by an android spider thing, going into space and your head exploding, falling into some lava-ish pit, getting smashed by meteors..

I miss simple hoppy platform games. Why did Duke Nukem have to go all 3D and stuff? Is that really progress? I guess simple hoppy games don't do much for nVidia's bottom line.

Holy shit - you're now the second person i've ever come across that had a TI home computer. My parents had one when i was a young-un and i clearly remember my mum spending huge amounts of time on munchman!! That's such a blast from the past!!

Favorite video game death, not particularly to reflect my age but i don't think you can go far wrong with the 'worms' airstrike.

Me too. For me, it's not so much the movement from 2D to 3D (the original Starfox was still simple fun...), but the movement to immersive game play (e.g., MMORPGs). I don't really feel like living my video games- I'd much rather have something that can be picked up and put down at my leisure.
