I hope this is in the right forum, I'm still new to the skull brain scene.

I'm taking a trip to Austin from the 25th to the 28th of this month, and it just occured to me that I really have nothing planned for my time there.
So far I plan to have meetings/quasi-interviews wit social service groups I may want to work with, seeing a bat cave, going to some art show i saw online that has stuff from Gary Floyd and Tim Kerr, going to an arcade or two, trying to track down Randy "Biscuits" Turner's grave and visiting it (if he even has one that is) and enjoying the lack of snow. Any other suggestions? Toy stores I should look up? Vegan friendly places to go to? Cool parks? Neighborhoods I should visit?

I can surely help with the vegan freindly places, we got a few good places to eat at and a couple toy shops but nothing that carries much kaiju...

Atomic City, and Monkey See Monkey Do, both are pretty sweet toy shops. Waterloo is a great record shop too. The Vegan option is definitely doable in Austin as well.

I've never really heard mention of Biscuit's grave, but definitely R.I.P. him and Lance. Good vegan restaraunts... Wheatsville, while a grocery co-op, makes great food, and is pretty close to White Mountain Foods, the home of wheat roast! I would reccomend their frito pie (with nutritional yeast), tempeh tacos, or, my favorite, the wheat roast tacos. Mr Natural's is pretty good, and avoid Veggie Heaven at all cost. Our only real arcade (to my knowledge), Einstein's, just got shut down a hot minute ago. I was just perusing this on a friend's name, so I have almost no idea about toys, but I think someone already got to that. As far as cool parks... I'd say Zilker is alright, but I'd reccomend peacocks or the greenbelt. There's a pretty sick peacock reserve on the way up to Mt. Bonnell. There's a lot of spots on the Green Belt there are a lot of fun, if the rivers are a'flowing by then- I'd reccomend Gus Frou. If they aren't, Barton Springs is still free until late May, and it's some of the most refreshing water you could dive into!

I'm not sure if you're into record stores, but Sound on Sound in the North Loop area is a favorite. Cheapo and Waterloo aren't bad either, and less punk-frequented, so you can strike gold. Our new punk-oriented store, the Trailer Space, will be open by then too.
