Post love living in a big city for these.....
....fucking killer selection of used books that are brand new!

today i went out and got
miranda july's "no one belongs here more than you," ($12.75)
chip kidd's "The Learners" ($13.00)
chris ware's "Acme Novelty Library Number 18" ($9.00)
zadie Smith's "Book of Other People" ($7.50)
and murakami's new retrospective hardcover ($32.00)

about $75.00 for all books when the murakami alone is an $80 book!

great book shopping day! i love san francisco and now i am off to do a little reading.

thats a really great collection of reads! "the learners" is funny but i think i like The Cheese Monkeys better. you ever seen the jack cole plasticman book he did with art spiegelman? the cover is actually made of vinyl.. its beautiful and smells great. this probablly sounds weird but i am always happy when i hear someone else still reads these days. books will always be my television.

yes, chris rules and oh, i'm kinda sad to hear you liked the cheese monkeys better. i loved the book but the blurb on the learner's said something like "no one will read this and remain unchanged." which set very high expectations for this novel...

...little known fact: the cheese monkey's was almost completely auto biographical all the way down to the riveting final scene! believe it or not!

yes that plasticman book was great but i tend to think most of mr kidd's book jacket designs rule. i can usually spot one a mile off. loved what he did with his own little (?) retrospective book. can't wait to see volume two!

This is one thing I seriously miss about civilization. Since I moved out into the boonies for my crummy (but somewhat well paying) job, I've missed going to new/used/buy/sell/trade book stores and poring over shelves of literary esoterica. I love books. I hate the boonies. :(

I'm pretty much a book addict - it's really hard for me to go to a bookstore and walk out empty-handed.

no, i haven't heard of mortified, who wrote it? i'm just finishing up one of the best vampire novels i've read in quite some time written by a former producer of 60 minutes called "fangland". it's really not much of a vampire novel but is nonetheless a very creepy portrait of the media and how it works. i recommend it!
