Post Australia : what do I need...
I'm going to make a tour of the country next week but I still need to know what I need as pocket money...so I have a fews questions to our Aussie members :D

Basically, I need to know what is the living costs there ? How much do you pay for gas ? how much do you pay for food, bier, and whatever you need to survive ? I just need a general idea about this in order to bring enough cash.

Also, we are making a van trip between Brisbane and Cairns and we still don't know what we will do on the way...any good advices ?

Last but not least, we are you located guys ? I'm going to Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns (and any city between), Alice Springs, Adelaide and Melbourne (and some cities in between)...if there is any chance to have a drink with you, I'm in !!

Hey,

I can answer some of your questions:

Gas: Petrol is between $1.40 and $1.70 a litre in most cities, the price difference is based on whether you're getting normal unleaded petrol or higher quality/octane petrol.

Food: There are cheap places to eat (mostly fast food - mcdonalds etc) so it depends if you're eating out all the time or buying food from supermarkets to make your own meals?

Driving Brisbane to Cairns will be wonderful but do you realise how long this drive takes? Non stop it would be 19 hours hehe. it's about 1800 kms. I haven't been up north since I was a young boy so I can't recommend anything off the top of my head but there are a lot of resources online which would be able to point you to some good spots.

I'm based in Sydney, so definitely meet up for a drink!
