Okay, so I was watching TV with my wife last night, and we saw the Charmin Toilet tissue commercial with the bears getting their butts vacuumed by their mother cuz there was bits of toilet paper stuck to their butts.



So, is this really a selling point for TP? Has TP shredding all over your butt ever been an issue for any of you? Do you find it necessary to wipe TP ALL OVER your butt to the point of it shredding in the first place?

Don't you normally just pull up your pants and cover your butt so bits of TP wouldn't be visible anyway?

Who is this commercial for?

i'm embarrassed to say that sometimes i wipe so hard that i even shred some two ply and need to wash my hand for about oh.. 10 minutes or so

It is aimed at you....because of the cute red bears....lol

well, they can't really show a person having a piece of TP tear apart some and get caught in their ass crack, so i guess this is the best they can get at.

they cant even show the bear with TP pieces stuck to where the poo comes out, so they just have to have it everywhere

i would guess this is targeted to people who
a) have messy dumps
b) buy cheaper, thin TP
c) hard wipers
d) some combination of the above

it's hilarious to me to think about the ad agency meeting for this charmin ad campaign.

A - "guys... mr. whipple is out. we need a new image"

B - "hmmmm... think about our customer... should i buy charmin?"

A - "umm... do bears shit in the woods?"

B - "omg!"

I've always hated those crappy animated commercials.

that reminds me... if you go up to lou ferrigno at comic con, you'll see a bottle of hand sanitizer next to him. i said "hey, it's lou ferrigno!" (apparently he didn't hear me) and i shook his hand (and when i started walking away, he cleaned his hands). i have no idea what this has to do w/ anything.

everyone knows that bears just grab and use whatever rabbit is closest by anyway...

my friend used to tell us he took a shower after every dump... it was a real conversation stopper. LOL.

I've also heard of people using baby wipes instead.

They ought to mix the commercials and have the polar bears using the charmin 'cause they got the runs from drinking coke and then show the massive clear cutting from using the charmin.

i always do now. life is way easier...

We were in a supermarket on vacation and my wife started putting TP in the basket, so naturally I ask "Why do we need to buy toilet paper? I mean, they've already got it in the hotel and everything". Her response? "Because the bear on the package is really cute and I want to give it to my friends when we get home".

So, to answer your question, cute cartoon bears are put on TP commercials to target the lucrative "Japanese girls who give toilet paper as a gift" market.
