Yeah, that's a pretty good upgrade - I always thought Kaman was a pretty underrated Center, until this past season when people finally started noticing him.
I hate the US team. I can't believe Carmello is starting at PF! I hate that he's on the team to begin with, but as a starting PF makes it even worse. And Chris Bosh as our back-up C? That guy is so skinny, there's no way he'll be able to defend someone like Kaman. Also, an injured Dwyane Wade? I won't be surprised if we lose out on the gold once again. But at least Lebron, Kobe and Howard are there and should dominate.

I agree with NT. I think the US will be lucky to score a silver honestly. If Ginobli plays for Argentina, I think they will have to be considered the favorites. Then Spain, Germany....Puerto Rico...all come into the picture.

We dont have enough low post players in my opinion. We have Howard and Bosh, and that's it?

We better hope we can put up 120 a game, otherwise I think we'll be killed by an effective executing team. We have like 3 guys who can play defense.

Howard, Bosh, and Boozer - those are our only bigs, and the terms "big" doesn't exactly fit with Bosh since he's like 135 pounds. But either Bosh or Boozer would be a better PF than Carmello.
Four years from now we'll have Oden/Howard as our Center combo which will kill! Possibly LaMarcus Aldridge/Chris Bosh at PF. Of course Lebron at SF, but maybe Durant will join the team by then to back him up? Michael Redd and Brandon Roy at SG. And CP3 and Deron Williams at PG. I think that'll be a team that would bring home gold. (And it would have 3 Blazers on it!)

Oh yeah, forgot that Booozer is also going.

Carmello doesnt even play PF for his own team...why the hell would they put him in that spot on the US team?

The problem with the whole 'dream team' structure is that most of these players need the ball in their hands in order to do what they do. Are they just going to run isolations the entire time? That should work well :|

yeah will be very interesting to see whether u.s. team will make it!!!

howard is frightening, never liked kobe, but apart from offcourt behaviour,
i like how carmelo, not the most athletic player around, still does well with his versatility,
(pretty oldschool) reminding me a lil of danny manning who i was big fan of.

remember "last" game where lebron forced to much and u.s. team lost in final minutes,
dont remember whether it was olympic games or world championships...
who will be the sixth man in u.s. team?
me missing some teamplayers in u.s lineup again...

really liked hard working kaman in the very few games i saw on tv,
seems like he and dirk might get along well.
only hope for german team to make it somewhere...
rest of the team is not so good: too old or too young.

world champs, when they lost to greece i think you're talking about. anthony had a shit game that game BUT he was their player of the tournament up until that point. anthony can play at the basket as well, but tends not to, i think putting him at PF will give him the ball lower in the post which is good. this is FIBA we're talking, not nba, the players aren't as huge/athletic. that's also the US teams strategy by not taking another centre (although leaving amare out is a big mistake IMO). I didn't realise boozer was on the team though. not sure if he should be going myself.

i doubt aldridge will be on the next squad, but you never know.

Kaman had a pretty good 05/06 season, petered out 06/07 (after getting the big $$) and then played pretty well this last season. needs to get in better shape tho! and grow his hair back
