The darkside has me pretty bad- oldskool jungle heads?
Man finally getting a shelf unit for my vinyl collection has rejuvenated me hardcore-literally. I never gave up liking old hardcore/jungle but 92-96 specifically will always be with me. I've mp3'd or downloaded a ton of it lately. Can't stop listening to old Criminal Minds, Wax Doctor & Kev Bird on Basement records, old Skanna records, the list is endless. Any other oldskool jungle heads here? Besides Jeb and Selekta Nips?

Re: the darkside has me pretty bad- oldskool jungle heads?
I like some early 90's breakbeat stuff, just before "jungle" hit...but my favorite by far is the period when labels like Suburban Base and Moving Shadow started putting out stuff that was getting slightly harder. I guess that was 93-94. Some of the early Metalheads 12"s were killer too...after that I sort of lost interest. Still have all the vinyl though.

Ah, 2 favorites...tracks like these hold up even after 15 years. Hard to believe it's been that long.

Wow glad to see some oldskool heads on here collecting toys as well. Yeah Suburban Base was one wicked label, some of my faves on that label were DJ Hype- The Chopper, Johnny Jungle- Flammable/Devoted Drummer, Desired State Rmx of Jeopardy, Sophiticated Bad Boys- Feel the Magic, RIP & Stamina of course....Metalheadz- forget it- you can do no wrong with that label.

Re: the darkside has me pretty bad- oldskool jungle heads?
Im all about the old skool jungle- sub base and the other big labels like smokers inc and metal heads but there were so many one hit wonders and lesser known stuff the rips it up. Shy Fx is probably my favorite producer 94-98 Dj Trend is a forgotten soldier or jungle as are the dreem teem with joker records. some of the early joker stuff was killer. when I get home I can post up some of my old radio shows for the crew dem- I have a couple of old skool ones on my computer. Edit- Just remembered Philly blunt and dope dragon records had some absolute bangers- Buck rodgers and bonanza kid are probably some of my favorite tunes ever! Its good to see my Toy peoples are big junglists too!

i'm a relatively new (say past 7-8 years) 'head. But I'd be willing to bet you guys would like Danny Byrd if you're not already familiar with him. I'd say Shock Out is a very unique track that has some old school samples injected...definitely worth checking out. Who do you guys listen to nowadays if you're not dusting off old vinyls? I'm quite fond of: High Contrast, Cyantific, Nu:tone, Logistics, Mistabishi, Klute, SKC, Amit, Commix, Syncopix, Teebee, Calyx, d Bridge, Utah Jazz, Matrix & Futurebound, Dara, DB, Black Sun Empire, Future Prophecies, Dieselboy, Goldie, Ink, Bill Laswell and uh thats all I can think of right now.

Re: the darkside has me pretty bad- oldskool jungle heads?
My favorite years were 98-01, pretty mixed after that. I had a show on bassdrive.com from 2001-2004, but was with the station from the third show ever aired. I still try to keep up and will have a show again soon, or possibly even my own station. Chicago was a major player in the scene with the weekly Seminar night. Nothing comes close to seeing all those little dubplates pressed at Music House in the UK and trying to sneak a peak at the track names scribbled on in marker.
A few highlights for me was opening for Dieselboy, Bad Company, Concord Dawn, and Cause 4 Concern. I miss those days so hardcore and CDs make me SICK. I still get shit pressed on $35 plates and always will. I think I have a few mixes online, I'll have to find them and post them.
A few all time faves are Ed Rush and Optical, Evol Intent (freaking geniuses), Konflict, Usual Suspects, Ram crew, Dom and Roland, and Bad Company.

konflict - messiah that track and kemal - fucking hostile (so wish this got released) give me chills everytime i hear them oh for dj that still actually get DUBS cut that is so much better than cut and paste djs now a days shows you have so much more faith in a track you produced than just making a track in a day to test out

I think fucking hostile was released, not necessarily in a legit manner though... Also Kemal is still around, just not in the way you remember him: http://www.myspace.com/nomadiqahttp://www.nomadiqa.com/biog.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velahavle
