Post Godzilla vs Hedorah (23 pics)
This movie is strange and beautiful. The fight scenes are oddly quiet, the animation bizarre, and the civilian bodycount is high. The whole film is visually striking, with some truly haunting images. One of Toho's best, IMHO.

Here's some screengrabs I snatched for fun. I'll take them down when the lawyers come calling...

Great screen caps. It's definitely one of the best Goji flicks. Non-kiddie despite the little kid element. Gotta love the theme song too.

I watched this again just the other day. I'll take that Goji lying on the ground there...

One of my favs as a kid, and still is. I remember getting into a scuffle with my neighbor when he didn't believe Godzilla could fly, that was when I was 5 or 6. Good times.

haha I just watched this the other day as well (along with most of the other movies)

I Love~ the theme song and the flying goji as well!
But in terms of him doing weird poses...my favorite is the Daisensou Goji (shiee goji)

I know the smaller Marusan goji toy but who made that big guy?
The thing is half the size of the kid

Bullmark, according to the site where I found that photo. IIRC in the first scene you can also see a Gomess in the background.

Is that the jig dance pose? Isn't it amazing how numerous editions of monster toys can be born from just a second of film?

A great movie, definitely one of my faves, although it does tend to get slammed a lot by critics (as does Godzilla Vs Megalon). My only complaint about this movie is its so dark. I understand the concept of it reflecting the tone of the film, but really, I would like to actually see whats going on lol!

yep the Shiee goji is the "dancing goji"

it originally comes from Osomatsu-kun from this guy named Iyami

It's dark on my TV as well...but definitely all details are visible.
Just for reference sake...have you calibrated your TV?
Use a calibrating dvd like Digital Video Essentials or AVIA to calibrate your TV (to your specific dvd player, if you change players...recalibrate)

It's pretty dark, alright. However, I have the 50th anniversary re-mastered ver., and I can see everything really well.

But, yes, very dark. One of my favorite scenes is Goji burning garbage at sea, and all that is visible is his breath:

Yeah, I have the remastered version, and all that good stuff, and I have recalibrated the bloody TV so much, it almost makes coffee for me now! Its deliberately filmed dark anyway, I was reading an in-depth synopsis about the film that was mentioning that it was not only to get across the bleak message of the movie, but also because some of the props, or costumes or something were'nt so great, so it covered up a multitude of sins.

I watched this movie again for the first time a few months ago and you've captured the artistry perfectly. Also comforting to see I wasn't the only one drooling over that kid's toy collection there out in the yard (!!)
