Sid "Captain Spaulding" Haig Comes to San Francisco!
The SHOCK IT TO ME! Horror Film Festival is proud to present cult actor, Sid Haig to our gruesome guest line-up on October 17th & 18th, 2008 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco! Mr. Haig began his long career (over 50 films and 350 television episodes) appearing as “Ralphie” in Jack Hill’s SPIDER BABY, and is known today for the creepy clown, “Captain Spaulding,” in Rob Zombie’s HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL’S REJECTS. Sid will be at SHOCK IT TO ME! all weekend, and will be interviewed on stage by our SHOCK IT TO ME! hosts, John Stanley and Ms. Monster on Friday night, October 17th, after our screening of SPIDER BABY! Check out the all-new SHOCK-IT-TO-ME.com for full details on the show and see who our other guests are!

Does he make it out west much? I guess horror fans on the east coast are spoiled-he's EVERYWHERE here. I literally see him more times in a year than I see my own family! haha cool for the west coasters!

I literally see him more times in a year than I see my own family! haha cool for the west coasters! LOL! Thanks! Outside of LA, we get shite for horror conventions in Nor Cal. San Francisco is one of the most expensive convention cities in the US, which out-prices itself for such events. And even the ones that happen locally, like Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, bomb because of poor local promotion -- sometimes I just like that people, even fans, don't want to both to go to these things. A lot of people are spoiled with their downloading and their DVDs... they have no idea how different the experience of watching these films are in a theater. That's why I started SHOCK IT TO ME!, although we're going for a more niche market than Fangoria's WOH -- pre-1980s horror... The stuff that I grew up watching on TV in the 1970s and in local grindhouse theaters -- Vincent Price, Mario Bava, Hammer Productions, etc.

Re: Sid "Captain Spaulding" Haig Comes to San Francisco!
Yes, I know who they are—they provided prints for George Reis' DRIVE-IN MONSTERAMA in New Jersey, which is a kick-ass show, I might add. We get a lot of horror films show around these parts (we are one of the major cities in the world), but promoters just don't bring out the guests like the Castro Theatre does. I think that the last time Sid Haig was in the area (besides a show in further up north in Sacramento last weekend), was at a Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in San Jose (aka "Sillycon Valley"). Unfortunately, that show bombed. Remember, "Watch Horror Films—Keep America Strong!"

I've been asked to his "private theater" in his house for screenings, but haven't made it out yet. I'm buddies with all those guys, they are celebrating their 11th year showing movies this October with another 24 hour horror-thon. I can't wait!
