Sounds like a cool idea. I'm in. At least it's not an art swap. Nobody wants me to paint anything ever. (trust me)

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
Any sort of limitations on musical genre? My musical collection is out of the mainstream, but judging by some of the other music-related threads, I'm not too sure how well I 'fit in'...

Yep, my first avatar change since I joined here. Figured it was time. I think that sounds good. We also need to find out if the person we get paired with would prefer an audio or a data CD.

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
not sure how this is going to go but do you want to just do random people because i would like a cd from everyone involved type of switch i mean is this going go send your mix cd to you then you get a random cd or are you going to compile them onto a dvd data disc

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
Exchanging data files will be problematic, especially if anyone's music collection came from iTunes. I believe there will be DRM issues...

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
it doesn't matter what music you're into, that's the whole point. hardcore, noise, jazz, trip hop, whatever.
i guess you could send a copy to everyone if you wanted, but that would get expensive with postage since there are people in the US, japan, europe etc. i figured going in random pairs would work best.
i think we'll keep it simple and just do audio cd's or a tape, no need for data shit/dvd's/nasa satellites. just a straight up mix.

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
muxtape sucks and its been down for months now anyway. part of the fun of mixtapes/cd's is the thought put into them by the person and actually receiving them.

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
Cassettes or NOTHING!!!! Sadly my tape deck set up is in my garage at the moment collecting dust. Making CD's/MP3 mixes just aren't the same. Grumble-old-man-rant.

just an idea na, physical media (tape/cd) or bust. takes zero effort/care to upload a bunch of tracks on the net. i've started taking a list of names of dudes who are in, i'll pm you soon for your addresses and then pair everyone up when the 2 weeks is over.

just an idea Dial-up here. ftp-ing a bunch of songs probably isn't going to happen.

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
everyone should just use Pando.com and then you can swap anything you want without spending any money on postage... makes way more sense if you ask me... I find you can send about 3 full length cds in a pretty short amount of time... me and my close friends use this app a lot and it works great...!!! maybe figure out what kind of music each person is into and then go from there... me & selekta have swapped tunes using pando before with no problems and I think it was brooks that sent me the last NIN if I'm not badly mistaken...? anyway, just my two cents...

 Re: mixtape/cd swap.
I'd be down for it...hope nobody minds some odd music mixed in with Japanese pop/punk/etc. Are there rules against slipping in a song of our own band/project?
