 Best Razor?
OK I even did a search so Bloodrinker can't say we already had a " best....."
Anyhow. I ran out of razor blades and was thinking when I go to get more of just getting a whole new razor system. I've been using a Sensor Excel for 10+ years. I've been somewhat immune to the whole mach/ 3 blade hype etc for years.
I have to admit though I have a seriously heavy beard and frankly I'm sick of having to go up then down, shaving is just a big pain in the ass. Electric- forget about it. It would do nothing to my beard. I'm looking for something that is quick, efficient, and the blades actually last more than 2 shaves. It would also be nice if I didn't have to break the bank every time I had to get replacements. Any ideas?
PS and why do replacement blades cost so much, it's not like we're shaving with gold plated diamond blades?

 Re: Best Razor?
for cost to performance ratio, the mach3 will probably be the best. from what i understand, the difference in performance between 3 and 4 and 5 blades is not enough to account for the difference in price of the replacements
and i've also read that the powered models actually work better than the non powered (like the M3 power)

 Re: Best Razor?
Have I really become "that guy" who tells everyone to search because I remember way too many threads?
Anyway, I'm 27 and look like a 14 year old, smooth like a seal, cheap "one use" razors work for me for about a month because I have to shave so little. Upside- I hate shaving so I don't need to do it that often and am not into facial hair Downside- If I DO try, instead of getting a real mustache or beard I just get a scattered, pedophile mustache and a neck beard instead of much on my face.

 Re: Best Razor?
I've been shaving with a straight razor for a while, it's fun, bad ass and saves you money in the long run. I find it seems to work better for thicker beard than a regular razor and you can keep it sharp yourself,
the whole shaving process does take a little longer than normal though so if I'm in a rush I will just use a disposable or something.

 Re: Best Razor?
I shave my head & face and found the 3 blade razors work best for me.I buy the bootleg Mach3 which comes 3 in a pack for a couple dollars. When they're 99cents I rack up.
You can re-use one about 3 times depending on how often you shave. If you shave your head too its only good for one shave.

 Re: Best Razor?
Lixx same here, I can shave in the morning and by the nights end I can shave again, being Italian means your gonna be hairy. The best I have found is the M3, the only suggestion I can say is make sure you get a shaving gel that is best for your skin type. Also make sure your skin is really and moist. I bought a mirror to shave in the shower where my skin is at its best for a shave and that has helped me. I can usually get a clean shave daily without any irritation and bumps.
And I also get my blades from costco. I usually use one head a week, so a pack that cost 40 bucks will last me 2 months. Its not really a choice anymore, its part of the budget.

 Re: Best Razor?
Hmmmm yeah I also shave my head so that's probably adding on to the razor wear down factor (didn't think of that). I think from most suggestions here and including a few friends I spoke to today via phone points to Mach 3 time. Wow my day is going like a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode

 Re: Best Razor?
I've used the M3 and M3 turbo for a few years now and I'm pleased with them. I shave twice a week usually....yeah I'm lucky like that.
Lash is right with costco though. You'll save a lot that way!

 Re: Best Razor?
I actually left my razor at home when I went to a wedding a few months back and had to buy one on the road. I can't use the disposable ones, and the 4 blade jobbies were the same price as my M3 I left at home, so I went for it. I was surprised that it actually cut through a little smoother - if there's a price difference it's probably not worth it, but I did notice a difference. The thing I don't like about it is the head is bigger making it more difficult to shave your upper lip, or get a precise shave on my neck/beard line (just shaving the neck, not growing a neck-beard).

 Re: Best Razor?
Gillette Fusion. I shave my head and face with it and the blades themselves can last several days, even weeks. Costly, and probably not much more effective than 3-blade units, but I got the Fusion and a buttload of razors for free (some marketing thing or another that was given to the company my friend works for, and he gave them to me) and I've just sort of stuck with them. anyway, seems to work really well.

 Re: Best Razor?
Went with the Mach 3, came with 3 free cartridges so I'll try it out for a few weeks. Hope I don't slice my head open!

I love the Fusion. The Sensor made my skin hurt, but this one feels great.
