Re: Cool Shelving I think they look a bit naff/ cheap sticking out like that. I'd like them more if they were recessed into the wall with thicker acrylic shelves.

Re: Cool Shelving I like 'em but agree with mondo - why they didn't bevel the edges....or at least round them a bit is odd especially for the (probable) high cost of the unit.

Re: Cool Shelving To get the thick edges illuminated w/ a hidden light source (LED or fiber optic), acrylic is best. Plus, with glass, you would have visible mechanical fasteners joining the horizontal & vertical members. The weight of glass would make it difficult to 'float', as well.
But you are right, glass is alot cheaper. It just is not the right material for the design 'as is'. Thanks for the link for scheme 'B'.
