 M1GOs vs. Me-goes, Yugo's..... Who knows???
A few months ago, I attended a comic/toy convention where I met a guy that claimed to have some M1GO pieces at home. As I understand it, the closest to a "correct" pronunciation is: " im-'EESH-go." (m-ichi-go) However, this guy kept saying " Meego" & I kinda feel bad, because it made me wanna claw his eyes out. What's the real pronunciation?!?

Em-Ichi-Go is correct. However, I'm going to start calling it Meego now too.

Let's not confuse it with Mego.

I remember Alex getting really irritated at some kids asking if we carried any stuff by POOSHEED (pushead).

It's acceptable for English speakers to say "em-one-go."

 Re: M1GOs vs. Me-goes, Yugo's..... Who knows???
Anyone actually know what M1-GO means or the story behind the name?
Ichi-go = "One time"
What's 'M' stand for?
They are located in Fukushima prefecture which has lots of towns that start with 'M' ???
Oh, I just found the answer on their website...ran through babelfish...
"Q3. About the origin of name of the M1 number… A3. Originally Plamodel and the garage kit, you started the M1 number from the store which handles the antique toy. It became the naming, M1 number from the fact that “M” of the M1 number M of the models, M of the model kits and M of the maniacs, the monstrous beast (the monster) is M, is that 1 store. Of course, the owner until you say, there are no times when we like also the famous monstrous beast of ultra Q appearance…"

Yep, that's what they told me, too.
Anyone have any pictures of Yuji and M1 to compare? I definitely see the resemblance.
M1GO's Garamon toys also look suspiciously like the founder.

Since I don't actually SPEAK with anyone else about toys, I always said to myself "M ONE GO" but I'm glad to know what's up. Thanks for all the info.

Thanks for all the info. funny, I don't actually talk to anyone about this stuff either. I've found myself wondering how I'd actually pronounce some of the names of these toys if I had the opportunity. I talk to my wife about them sometimes (mostly when she asks "what is this one and when did you get it??") but everytime the word "zagoran" or "blobpus" comes out of my mouth, she just stares at me like I've got lobsters crawling out of my ears.

 Re: M1GOs vs. Me-goes, Yugo's..... Who knows???
For years we used to say "Chogokin" like it was spelled, rhyming it with "joe broken." Then we started finding videos of old Popy commercials and learned how it was really pronounced.
(No, I'm not telling you how it's really pronounced.)

I hear ya paulie - wanna know what's worse? My girlfriend, who doesn't have much interest in this has a better time remembering names along with pronouncing them! Thanks for the breakdown on M1go - they are one of my favorites and I've always wondered about their history along with properly pronouncing the name Pooshead....classic....

one advantage to having a young kid, you can talk about toys with them! My daughter can name almost every common Ultraman kaiju and all the Godzilla monsters... she calls this the "tube of many monsters"
