 The Lovely Bones Trailer...
This is one of the few Oprah books I've really liked. Probably the thing that astounded me most about this clip, though, is seeing Peter Jackson. I haven't seen him since all the LOTR hype. Did lose about 150 pounds or what??? http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/thelovelybones/large.html

 Re: The Lovely Bones Trailer...
Yeah, Jackson lost a heck of a lot of weight, and almost looks like a different person for having done so.
The movie looks really good. Fantastic cast. I like that a relatively obscure Cocteau Twins song ("Alice") is used.
Other good Jackson news: The Tolkein estate finally got over themselves this week (no doubt to millions being thrown at them in an out-of-court settlement) ... Jackson and del Toro now have the green light on moving forward with "The Hobbit."

The music did seem oddly familiar. It must be a flashback to my '4AD' phase many years ago..
And yeah he looks like a different person.. As it turns out, he kinda reminds me of Dominic Monaghan from Lord of the Rings and Lost.

 Re: The Lovely Bones Trailer...
Heard recently that Brian Eno did the score for this and he got Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) to do vocals. Definitely icing on what looks to be an already tasty cake.

Interesting. Allegedly the Twins and Eno did some sessions together many years ago, but were unhappy with the results. Nothing from those sessions was ever released. I'm thinking about reading "The Lovely Bones" before the movie comes out. Seems like a cool story.

 Re: The Lovely Bones Trailer...
this movie looks (and sounds) promising.
This isn't the first time Jackson had Fraser on the soundtrack. I believe she did some vocal-work for LOTR too.

 Re: The Lovely Bones Trailer...
Yeah, I think that's her singing during the Rivendell bridge scene with Aragorn and Arwen in Fellowship and also when that Lothlorien elf dude take an arrow in The Two Towers. The song "Alice" used for the preview is from one of the last CT singles, the "green" version of "Violane." It's about time she did something again. Her solo career never really materialized, the CT reunion was cancelled at the last minute, and it's been a long time since she did those songs with Massive Attack.

I did find the whole thing to be a bit depressing when it was all over with since in the end you are still just left with a young girl murdered senselessly, but many of the people I know that read it didn't find it depressing at all. I believe it's available as a mass market paperback now, so copies should be cheap to come by...
