Re: Stereoscopic photography of 19th century Japan Very nice, thanks for the link Abe. I collect old stereo cards. I have quite a few including two stereoscopes that have been in the family since they were new. Some of the images would be "politically incorrect" by today's standards but they are relics of their era. Before eBay, you could find the photos at paper shows and garage sales for fifty cents to three dollars. Now they command considerably more, especially if they're photos by known photographers like Carlton Watkins. I'm very fond of the hand-tinted ones. The colors are so unreal, but so beautiful.
