San Diego Comic Con - Possible Move after 2012
Hmm.... saw report here: http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-c ... 4198.storyI hate the fact that the report does not mention how far north they are looking but I googled and seen Anaheim Convention Center as a possible new location. I've also heard Vegas. I would love to have the Con closer to us here. As long as it stays in the general SoCal area. Thoughts?

LOL If it stays in San Diego it's OK too as it's a nice town to visit and we have friends there. Las Vegas would be more costly and would be cluttered with all sorts of distractions, slot machines, alcohol etc etc.

Re: San Diego Comic Con - Possible Move after 2012
i like it in san diego for obvious reasons. but i also think san diego is a nice place for people to visit. having the convention center around the gaslamp and downtown area is a plus too. and whenever i think comic con, i think san diego. would be hard to think of it another way.

When Earths rotational axis shifts on 2012 Comic Con will be held in Greensboro NC which will be the new San Diego.

Re: San Diego Comic Con - Possible Move after 2012
I've been to Anaheim Convention Center back in the old days when Nate and I used to go to Anime Expo but I distinctly remember that the first time I went to SDCC my impression was that it was a bigger venue.
Unless there's been changes to Anaheim I am not aware of and forget LACC. I would not be comfortable walking around at night as we do in SD with all our bags of goodies unless I got a weapon on me. ::brandishes yaoi paddle::

Re: San Diego Comic Con - Possible Move after 2012
I'd prefer Vegas because I have family aka a free place to stay there. I like some food in SD but have no overall hate or love for it. If the convention hall is bigger where ever they plan to move it than I think it's a good idea no matter what.

I've only drove past the Anaheim Convention Center, but SD seems much bigger. Also isn't SD planning to expand in the next couple of years?

The area around the LA Convention Center is fine now. Staples Center, Nokia Theater, the Ritz Carlton, and countless new restaurants surround it. Nonetheless, I still believe that San Diego is better for Comic Con. It just wouldn't be the same anywhere else.

Actually downtown LA is getting to be one of the coolest areas in all of LA to hang out. Lots of really great clubs, galleries, coffee houses, and good places to eat.

The first time I went (4 years ago) was packed, but 2008 was just ridiculous, due to the massive press surrounding movies like Iron Man et al. I'm into the toy aspect, but I also like to see panels, presentations, etc. rather than spending all my time on the floor. Last time was the end for me until they can move it to a more manageable venue (or venues). Especially if I'm flying 3/4 of the way across the country and paying ridiculously inflated hotel prices.

I've never been, but from what I understand isn't sdcc just a big crowded corporate clusterfuck now? Just move it out to sea and let it sink under its own weight then start a new convention.... And the obvious local for the new Con should be Philadelphia. phil

I love San Diego (athough anywhere with sun will do for me) but it is an entire downtown clusterfuck . . . so many people in such a confined environment is mayhem. The infrastructure must be pretty close to breaking point . . . I'm kinda surprised it hasn't had a meltdown yet! Luckily comic and toy geeks aren't the most aggressive species on the planet so it's all pretty mellow. LA or Vegas would be cool for a change though and I might actually get a tour of the Muton toy museum! . . .
