While they're at it come to Buffalo and do the same thing. Most Rust Belt cities might actually benefit from this. Although I doubt they could grow much with all the pollution and short growing season (cold).

it's a fantastic idea. there's just so much dead space that many people don't bother going to all the great places. detroit is awesome.
could actually make detroit a pretty popular place. where else can a city change it's character so drastically?
