Re: anybody ever been to an All Tomorrow's Party?
Warp Films in Sheffield have made a film about it: ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES - THE FILM FEATURING: Belle And Sebastian / Grizzly Bear / Sonic Youth / Battles / Portishead / Daniel Johnston / Grinderman / David Cross / Animal Collective / The Boredoms / Les Savy Fav / Mogwai / Octopus Project / Slint / The Dirty Three / The Yeah Yeah Yeahs / The Gossip / GZA / Seasick Steve / Iggy And The Stooges / A Hawk And A Hacksaw / Fuck Buttons / Micah P Hinson / Two Gallants / Akron/Family / Jah Shaka / Saul Williams / Shellac / Patti Smith / John Cooper Clark / Lightning Bolt / Roscoe Mitchell / The Mars Volta In an out-of-season holiday camp on the coast of England, alternative music festival All Tomorrow’s Parties serves up a heady combination of alternative music, crazy golf and chalet-living; all curated by a single band or artist. This post-punk DIY bricolage uses material generated by the fans and musicians themselves, on a multitude of formats and over the history of ATP, to capture the uncompromising spirit of a parallel music universe. All Tomorrow’s Parties was created by All Tomorrow’s People and Jonathan Caouette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-QV10TD ... re=related

Iggy and Sleep on the same bill is rockin'. Er, if Iggy's live act is any good these days.
I just picked up an album by A Hawk And A Hacksaw. Interesting stuff. Folksy and related to the whole "Global Balkan" thing going on.

Hells Bells! That sounds awesome.
Early Mudhoney, Pavement, Built to Spill, MBV, Dinosaur Jr....
Are these DJ set lists curated by bands, all live performances, or a little of both? Either way, sounds right on.
That is crazy.

That is crazy. usually,,it is one person or band who curates everything (even the TV channels for the entire weekend) the ATPs i have been too,,there is a music channel & movie channel running 24/7 with some excellent shit chosen by the curator(s)..almost better than going to the performances when you are too worse for wear the next two UK ATPs (next month) are curated by pavement & matt groening..

Iggy is still great live...but I feel the Stooges should be kaput now that Ron Asheton is dead. Thankfully I got to see them right when they got back together and played almost all of Funhouse live.
seeing Sleep live would be stonerriffic.
ATP shows are great...if you like the bands, you'll have a great time.
