Not sure how many of you still play, but here are some details that dropped this morning regarding the 2nd release

I haven't played in about month because of "real life" not because I don't like the game, I'm itching actually! But this is cool news, isn't 1 year kind of soon for a sequal though? I dunno, I'll still buy it and play it. There's a lot of room for extra crap that wasn't in the first, I'm interested to see what it brings.

Thing's I'D like:

Different Survivors have different attributes (Zoe would be faster, btu weaker, Bill would be able to "detect" more due to his military background, etc.)

Boss Infected look different: Why would there be like, 40 of the same "Hunter" wearing the exact same crap? Make a few options! It'd still do the same crap, just 1 would be a girl, 1 would be tall, 1 short, etc.

New weapons: Glad to see some new Melee weapons, so that's covered!

We haven't played in a while. But we're looking forward to L4D2! Hoping for more storyline but this is Valve we're dealing with so it's probably more gameplay oriented improvements/upgrades.

The first one was fun, but very short! Even with the added content still feels like an incomplete game.

Looking forward to the next in the series.

Why add content when they can make you buy a whole new game? Seems interesting. But I agree that it seems premature to have a (presumably) standalone game when the first was not really tweaked much.

New survivors. Hmm. Where's the wooden melee paddle?

THAT would be a really cool idea if they did. Francis could have more HP and take a beating as a rough and tough guy and Louis could be an all balanced character like Mario in MarioKart.



Also a great idea! I am already excited to see what the new infected will be.

shit I am so far behind in my gaming. I haven't even picked up the first one yet.

Preview videos of the new gameplay, has a slightly different feel, brighter and probably in the Southern states. Some cool new generic zombies and a half Tank boss.

Any idea if something like this would make it to a game console?

If you think it looks good, and you haven't checked out the first Left 4 Dead, you should. The overall gameplay looks the same, just different location/survivors and some new weapons.

I like a few things from watching those clips:
- The fire ammo!!!
- Hazmat Zombies!
- Daytime, the mood seems more depressing when it's a nice day out vs. the dark gloom.
- I also like how the zombies look more DEAD! In the first I wasn't sure if they were supposed to be dead or more like the "28 Days..." zombies, living just with a virus. They call them "infected" but I was never sure since there's no story line. But now you can see guts hanging out, missing jaws, etc.

Excited to see 2. I hope they don't cut the FULL Tank, I only saw that half one around. I also hope the change the way the boss infected look, the Hunter, Smoker and Boomer all looked about the same. What, they walked from PA to LA?

I was kind of thinking that maybe the plane from 'dead air' dropped them off. ^^
Then again, it does seem like a whole new set of survivors.

Dude, I'd FLIP if they made the boss infected the "survivors" from 1! I'd love to seem Smoker Zoe or Hunter Louis! It'd be a fun nod.

Agreed, or seeing one of them make a cameo appearance as an endlevel "big boss" infected might be pretty cool too. (to bite a theme from resident evil, where former main characters becoming bosses is common)

Anyone play the demo yet? I know there's not a LOT of changes, but the few make a big difference. Can't wait! I love that machette! Also the new special infected are awesome and I'm glad they added more and that the old ones aren't 100% identical to the first ones.

The demo is FANtastic! I preordered and everything, and have really enjoyed working thru the demo a bunch of times, but I haven't been able to get a good enough group together to beat it on Expert. The Melee weapons are fantastic and a totally competent option to take instead of the pistols, and really make you think about which to use. The main three weapons changed a bit as well, and there are some specific gun variants within each bracket... nothing game changing on its own, but enough variety to give each some unique flavor. I think people are really going to clamor to get the new Combat Shotgun when they find it... much more satisfying to use than the second shotty from the original. There's also a great burst fire assault rifle that feels pretty different to use. There's also ALOT more gore... you'll spend alot of time tearing the limbs and midsections off of zombies than before, and it looks great.

PC player, btw.

Been playing the demo a few times. Love the physics when the zombie explode after the pipe bomb. I'm loving the machette too and the sound effects *squisssshhh*

I was going to pick this up, but it seems like COD:MW 2 is going to take up all my time.

If anyone is interested in a cheap copy of L4D hit me up...maybe a trade?

I'm still keeping L4D because of the new campaign and also it's different enough to keep around, though I doubt I play for a while since 2 hit.

Slightly off topic but since it's also a Valv3 game, anyone play Team Fortress? Is it worth the $17 used price? Always seemed fun but I've never played.

I used to play team fortress a bit but they changed up the gameplay dynamics really bad and started giving unlockable weapons randomly instead of making you grind for them. Kinda got a bit bored of it once this happened and stopped playing. I say L4D2 is a much better waste of your time.

I havent got round to getting hold of it yet because ive been playing Dragonage: Origins which fucking rules! If your into your classic baldurs gate type rpgs check it out
