 Home DNA kit?
Not to be completey paranoid, but as usual, did the news basically overlook the biggest risk of this? Why they went on an on about people over reacting to test results of the $20 kit and how it should not be as easy as picking up toothpaste, my big question would be why would I give my DNA to a random lab? Are they not aware that corporations are buying up and laying claim to any genetic code the can get their greedy hands on?

Yeah, I want to save my DNA secrets to sell for more toys! Those big corporations definitely are aiming to poach on the uninformed.
Do you think there is a vinyl toy collecting gene? Wonder what Bill Gates would pay for that?

Won't go too deep into my family history but thanks to World War II a pretty large chunk of my family history prior to the 1900s is gone. I'd like to know exactly where my Eastern European heritage comes from.

 Re: Home DNA kit?
Texas was "stealing" infant blood and selling it to corporations WITHOUT parents consent. You know bible beating Southern Baptist Texas?!? They are taking blood from drunk driving suspects without consent. (held down and having needles stuck in you by a police 'phlebotomy' tech.) ((blood held forever in a DNA database? to ferret out 'undesirables'?)) Some people say a Natzee 5th column escaped to America before Hitler's defeat. I agree. Don't even get me started on private genetic labs... The good news is Dr. Mengele did get some hard science from all his experiments.

Anytime you post I start to read and be interested and then remember all the conspiracies you have brought up in the past and it negates anything I could have possibly have learned from you. rockert wrote: Texas was "stealing" infant blood and selling it to corporations WITHOUT parents consent. Re: Home DNA kit?
Not to worry, conspiracy theorists. It's not happening (at least not yet). Quote: The largest U.S. drugstore chain, Walgreen Co., said Wednesday it will hold off selling what was poised to be the first over-the-counter genetic test, after the Food and Drug Administration said the kit has not been proven effective.
"These kits have not been proven safe, effective or accurate and patients could be making medical decisions based on data from a test that hasn't been validated by the FDA," said agency spokeswoman Erica Jefferson, in an earlier statement Wednesday.
Walgreen said late Wednesday that the Deerfield, Ill., company had decided not to stock the tests until it has "further clarity" on the issue. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100513/ap_ ... etic_tests(PS, Splice looks great. I can't wait to see it. )
