some heavy metal magazine has a funny interview with danzig this month to promote the new album. The interviewer gave him hell. Danzig didn't like the interviewer from the get-go because that mag had a comix feature with Glen and Henry Rollins as a gay married couple. Funny shite. Danzig don't vote cause the bildeburgers run the world and he didn't have a problem with george bush junior...

I can't blame Danzig for his attitude, he gets asked the same lame questions everytime. That interviewer sucked, I read it. He was lame and had nothing worth asking, it wasn't just the comic. I've read a few interviews w/Danzig that were great, they ask interesting questions that don't try to bait him into some BS Misfits conversation and are things I've never heard him asked. For instance a few years ago there was one and a lot of it was about his childhood, he was pretty open about it, it was cool. I agree with Danzig on some stuff, not the crazy NWO theories, but that Dems are as bad as Reps. I DO have problems with W, but honestly just as much as I do with Obama, but I'm not getting into that crap. I love how Danzig thinks the NWO powers have files on him, for what? Having big sideburns and wearing fishnet over 35?

Blood i appreciate your comments. I was a huge Danzig fan. Seen em on "How the Gods Kill" and at the World in NYC for album 5 or 6 I can't remember. I think Danzig has become a caricature of himself. For me he is the victim of high expectations. I expect good music. I appreciate him experimenting. But please don't release your experiments and call it music and expect me to buy it. I read another article where Rob Zombie interviewed him and they clapped each other on the back for using synthesizers back when that was uncool. Look at Zombies music... a downhill crash since he left the band. I read he hasn't spoken to the other band members since they split. Birds of a feather huh? I know Danzig was/is the talent in his bands. Zombie obviously isn't. Or he was a one hit wonder.

Just think every time you hear a Danzig guitar lick, it could of been played by John Christ, through a non-digital Marshall tube amplifier.

Sorry to reign blood on your thread Chad...

I am just bitter cause I used to be a happy fan and now I ain't.

No doubt! I was just saying that I'm sick of annoying interviews where they just ask unoriginal questions (usually misfits related, ugh!)

He really needs to lighten up about himself, there's nothing more that I enjoy than mocking him. But I have a sickness too, I can't stop loving him despite his poor/recent efforts (5-Circle of Snakes)

BTW, new album guitars- all real amps, no digital, I think he goes on about that in the Decible interview.

Hahahahah also Danzig using synths "before they were cool" gimme a break, ::cough cough MINISTRY cough cough:: That arrogant type of statement is why I love him though, pure gold.

That comic is pretty funny too since we mentioned it.

Danzig using synths "before they were cool"

My statement not Glen's. I was paraphrasing. To reflect accurately for future generations of skullbrainers. For posterity.

He used synths during the Cough cool sessions back in 78 or whatever year didn't he?

Danzig as a personality is interesting because the reason to like him is the same reason to not like him.

Back in '87 an associate was able to meet Glenn backstage outside of City Limits, and tried to give him a copy of his demo. The band was called Bastard Squad (Pgh, not Aus) and had a kick-ass recording titled "Pope John Paul George and Ringo." The cover was a pen and ink illustration of the pope, decked out in a strange mix of pope gear and the thrift store finds that (around here at least) seemed to define the dress of that era of punk. As such, the pope was whipping a peace sign and wearing a VW hood ornament on a chain, and as the story goes goes Glenn took a look at that and just started ridiculing this guy (Kurt). Then he tossed the cassette on the ground and dismissed him.

Having done business with the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is the music business for many years now, I will say that Glenn is one of the best, most honest & upfront guys I have EVER dealt with. Pays good and pays on time, and never ripped me off.

Outside of Glenn, I can count the number of times that has happened on a hand mangled in an industrial accident.

I was at that City Limits show...that was when they got a tour bus and were starting to become rock stars. Before that samhain used to stay at our house... he was always very nice and friendly.

I have to post this pic, any chance I get I'll post it, again and again!

...thats a very young me on the right, short blonde hair, looking lovingly at Danzig !

Anyone else visit him at SDCC but me? He's pretty nice in person, and took the time to doodle the same old thing he doodles all the time in my sketch book.

No Blackest of the Black tour this fall he says. :(

He still said that the band planned on touring in the fall though, so maybe there will be a show close to you! I asked him if he was coming to San Diego again for a show, he said probably not, and that the closest would be Orange County. :(

That sucks about the blackest tour. When he was in Boston in June he mentioned he would be back for the Blackest tour.

Years ago I had a signed issue 1 of Danzig's 'Jaguar God', I'm sure it's worth millions now cause comics are an excellent investment.

Post Re: Danzig talk
Coop, what work did you do for Danzig?

The photos of Danzig with toys and merch are taken from the Thrasher interview of him by Pushead.

I have been a fan since '84. I own almost everything on vinyl for the Misfits and Samhain. I was lucky enough to order goods when he was still doing mail order. I never got to see either of these bands...

I lived in Los Angeles from October of 1989 until summer of '92, so I got to see Danzig plenty. Plus a neighbor who worked for Golden Voice had been a roadie and was a friend of Eerie Von, who was still in the band at this point. He would tease me mercilessly but gave me merch and told me tall tales. From arena shows to an acoustic set in a tiny club on Halloween, I saw lots of live shows. All of this was good.

But starting with Blackacidevil,
the next three Danzig albums are his worst work EVER. I believe it is also when the CD booklets started incorporating live shots of big-breasted nude women standing with band members -I do not know it that is relevant or not but an interesting observation.

Circle of Snakes renewed my faith a bit. I'm not too deep into Deth Red Sabaoth to make any comments yet.

However, if he plays near, I will go see him live. Someone once told me that Danzig is like a wrestler - some days, he is a good guy and somedays, he is bad...
