Post Fresh Meat airbrushing question
OK, I have read several threads here with some great advice on brushes, what paints, how to use said paints but I haven't seen this question answered. If I missed it I apologize. I was just wondering if you should start with a good paint or use a cheaper version to get spray technique down. I know I have some serious work to do before I even have good control of the brush so I didn't really want to splurge on expensive paints. Will my technique suffer from using inferior paints? Will I have to relearn with the good stuff anyways? Thanks for any input.

Different paints spray differently so u will have to adjust your technique per brand and color etc.

I don't think you have a whole lot of options. There's MonsterKolor (never used it) Golden acrylic, Tamiya, and Creatix (never used it) I haven't compared prices. But I'd think they'd all be pretty equivalent in price. You'd be counting pennies trying to choose one over the other for price. I think if you're spraying vinyl, you should start with Monster Kolor as it seems to be the future of the hobby. Even if you're wasting it at first, you'll still be getting used to the way it sprays, the drying, the different techniques like color shifting flakes and base metallics, coating techniques, that kind of stuff. It comes pre-thinned too. So you don't have to worry about thinning it, which can be a tough balance for a new painter.

I am a fresh meat too, i started with Creatix as it came with my airbrush set. It took more pressure to spray than the MK, but has a better color variety at the moment and didn't require clear coat. However i like the way Monster Kolor Sprays and I like the super gloss you get with the MK paints. I feel more accomplished with the MK paints.
